If you're visiting Kauai, you absolutely can't miss seeing the stunning NaPali Coast. We offer a one-of-a-kind experience to do just that. As a Native family-run company, we are very fortunate to have been right here at our shop for 200 years, gathering our family's documented history to share about the NaPali Coast. Our Captains and Crew would love to share their very own culture and history with you on our tours. You can choose from one of our four vessels for a more personal and comfortable 4.5 to 5-hour tour. Our vessels are just the right size to explore sea caves with comfort when the weather allows. We can't wait to have you on board!

INFORMATION Please indicate your email address and contact number in Special Requirements when booking
LUNCH Please select your lunch options per person, we offer Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, PB&J & Vegetation with or without hummus. We can provide gluten-free bread if needed. Please inform us of any allergies within your group. Remember to send in your lunch order a week before your tour or at the latest, 24 hours before your tour. We'll default to Turkey sandwiches if we don't receive your lunch options. We also provide chips, soda, mixed juices, and water
PREGNANCY We make exceptions for pregnancies during our summer months only, ( June, July and August ) when the ocean conditions are calmer. Women who are expecting can participate in this tour up to 22 weeks gestation, along with their doctors approval. A doctor's note must be submitted by a doctor, directly to Makana Charters VIA email or fax and must be approved by management prior to booking a reservation. Please contact us to reserve once your note has been submitted.
AGE RESTRICTION Our age limit is age 4 years old and up on our larger vessels and age 9 and up on our smaller vessels.
DISABILITY For safety and liability reasons, we do not make any exceptions. We are not handicap accessible. If you feel that the individual can get on and off of the boat without any assistance, you may call the office to speak to someone directly.

Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park
During our winter season, (late November to April) Our afternoon tours don’t offer snorkeling. We use that time for whale watching and sunset. Come join us for an amazing 5 hour snorkeling and lunch tour, on the breathtaking NaPali Coast together! This place holds immense historical significance and is home to a variety of sea life, including dolphins. Our Native family-owned co, has been a part of the Waimea community for 200 years, where we depart to the NaPali Coast, our families history is beyond imaginable from history books being the first to sail foreigners on our family's sailing double hulled sailing canoes to NaPali Coast by documented history. We're excited to share our rich history and heritage with you. Sharing their own stories and culture to create a truly memorable experience. Please choose from our four comfortable catamarans, which offer the same fantastic tour experience. Weather permitting, we'll explore multiple sea caves and snorkel in pristine waters.
Waimea Canyon State Park
Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, this scenic state park overlooks the colorful Waimea Canyon, which stretches over 14 miles and is more than 3,600 feet deep.

5.00This was an amazing tour. We had lots of options and I'm really happy with our choice. We saw lots of dolphins and the captain let us watch them for quite some time. They played in the surf of the boat. We went snorkeling for an hour and the water was crystal clear. The views touring the coast are exceptional and our captain took us up to the mouth of a few caves and even over a waterfall. They had plenty of drinks and provided a nice sandwich and chips for lunch. The only thing I could have wished for to be better was that sitting in the front of the boat was a great choice for the views but it was hard to hear the stories and information being shared. All in all, we had an amazing time and I highly recommend this tour!

5.00A beautiful boat tour of the Na’Pali Coast. My husband and I had a great time. The weather was beautiful. In addition to seeing the coastline, we saw several waterfalls and entered a few caves. A school of bottlenosed dolphins swam with the boat for a time. I highly recommend it!
Must do tour of NaPali coast! Perfect size boat - still do the sea caves

5.00Absolutely amazing trip! The crew of Makana, Elijah and Charlie were incredible . Driving the boat into the sea caves was unexpected and mind blowing . We didn’t end up snorkeling due to strong current but we did get to swim out in the beautiful blue ocean . We saw dolphins and humpback whales . The NaPali coast is breathtaking and definitely worth seeing by boat . I sometimes get seasick but did not ( took Bonine in case) A few did get mildly seasick but the crew was very attentive and doing everything they could to help them feel better . Drinks and lunch provided .

5.00Crew was super knowledgable. Due to the weather we weren't able to snorkel but crew did a great job of keeping us busy with swimming and additional sightseeing views. And, we were able to do a little whale watching which was not on the "to do' list. Great trip. Great Crew.
Amazing boat tour of the Na Pali Coast

5.00This was a phenomenal boat trip with stunning views of then NaPali coast. We even had a brief whale sighting! They provide unlimited water and juices and serve a sandwich lunch with chips. Captain Makana and the crew, Josiah and Liliana, were friendly and informative. We were originally booked for a Wednesday morning tour but it was cancelled the day before due to forecast high swells and heavy wind - safety first. The communication was excellent and we were able to be rebooked to Thursday. If you get seasick, start taking some Dramamine the night before. I sail and usually don’t experience seasickness so I did not prepare, but I started to feel a little off about midway through the trip because I was taking a lot of pictures and videos and looking at/through my screen a lot (avoid doing this). The crew was very helpful and had me stand toward the back of the boat and helped me to feel better. We did not snorkel on this trip, which was indicated as normal for the winter (starting around October/November conditions change and the water becomes rougher).

5.00What a great experience! The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we all got to experience what we came for. They took us under waterfalls, spotted dolphins for us, and educated us on the NaPali coast history. I would highly recommend this tour!

5.00The guys were great hosts, and the captain did an amazing job getting us in and out of caves, and safely down the coast. Luckily for us, we were able to stop and snorkle along a reef before lunch. I love supporting local families and this trip was great. I would recommend it!

4.00Was very disappointed to learn upon arriving at Makena facility, that snorkeling was not being offered. on this trip. There was no mention of this when I booked the trip. They provided no information of what date snorkeling stopped due to sea conditions. This is a truth in advertising issue. Also, they provided no information about the sea state which would be expected during the time of our trip in early November. The captain was extremely capable and adept at handling this boat powered by 1200 horses of outboard motors, in the various sea states encountered during this 4 hour trip. Makena Charters touts this boat as the safest and most capable of handling the 6 foot wave heights which came at our boat obliquely as we were up close and personal with the beauty of the coast.. This caused many crest rides turning into sheer drops - this was unexpected excitement . My wife and I were glad we had not eaten lunch beforehand and had taken Bonine beforehand. The crew supported the passengers in exemplary manner tending quickly to a little boys lip injury which occurred during one of the many crest rides. The young man and woman were very professional and caring of their passengers well being.

5.00This was an amazing experience. The whole crew was awesome. We goto go through atleast four PODs of spinner dolphins. Just a magical day all around.
