The probability of seeing the Northern lights can vary and their visibility is dependent on cloud coverage and other weather factors. We always try our best to only go out if the same-day forecast predicts good visibility
Since forecasts are never a 100% guarantee and only a prediction, it can happen the Northern lights will not show. If so, you can always have a free re-run (pending availability) if you let us know and we'll then rebook you
If you join the tour, you will not get a refund. But you can join as many times as you want until you see them

After being picked up in the Reykjavik Capital Area, we will head out of the city away from any light pollution to the best location , chosen on the day, for visibility of the evening. We sometimes need to wait for the Northern lights to appear, and even change location over the evening. The guide is always in contact with our office and other locals for details on where the visibility is best each evening in case they need to change location. We always try to go where the crowds are not, but can not always guarantee that others looking for the Northern lights will not show up at the same spot.

3.00Cloud coverage was heavy and the tour guide (which was great) said that clouds will block the lights. Wish the company cancelled the event given the forecast so we didn’t waste an evening. They gave me 10% back, which is better than nothing. I know the company can’t control the weather, but make sure to check the weather as you have 24 hours to cancel without losing your money.

5.00We had a great experience. The tour was canceled on the day we were scheduled, because it was so rainy and cloudy. The tour operator told us they would watch for better conditions and reschedule, which they did on the next day. Our driver was Bjarni Valur who took us to a spot about 1hr away from Reykjavik, where he thought we would have a good chance to see. He was great - while driving he gave us various facts about Iceland, told us stories of Icelandic traditions and kept us entertained, after we reached the spot he set his camera on his tripod and started to track and take photos of sky where the cloud was parting and the camera was able to capture faint lights even though the naked eye could not see it. We waited at the spot for 2hrs in freezing weather, all the while Bjarni was encouraging us with his photos that things were improving. As promised we were served hot chocolate, which was delicious and pastries. Once in a while Bjarni would get in touch with other drivers and get updates from other spots. After a point we were ready to give up but Bjarni wasn’t, and finally we saw the awesome lights - they were dancing and the lights were all across the sky, finally nature put up a grand show for us. This was a dream come true for us. Thank you Bjarni very much for your patience and sharing the great photos with us.
Had a blast! Saw the Northern Lights dance and lots of cool stories!

5.00Our guide was Magnus and I can’t praise him enough for making our Northern Lights tour entertaining and fun. He picked me up at my airbnb and we went to the other pickup locations from there. It was an extremely cloudy night but Magnus was relentless in finding a good a spot to view the aurora. We had to leave our first spot because it was too cloudy. At our second spot we finally got a break and we got to see the lights dancing for a brief period and it was really spectacular! Even gave us hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls. Along the way he told us myths about the Norse gods and some background information about why the lights appear different colors. He was a very knowledgable guide and I highly recommend this tour. Magnus even got some excellent photos of each group from the night!

5.00It has been windy and rainy and Bjarni kept driving North when we stopped the views were amazing. We could see the movement with our naked eye and the pictures were gorgeous. Hot chocolate and cinnamon roles were a nice perk. If you can find Bjarni as your guide, do it, you won’t be sorry!

5.00It’s understandable that seeing the lights are completely down to chance. After one cancellation due to poor conditions I rebooked the following day with BG. He was a great guide and found us a great spot, we were waiting a while but when the activity started after 3 hours we were not disappointed. Tripods were provided, hot chocolate and cinnamon buns. We got some excellent professional photos by BG as well as footage of the lights I would absolutely recommend, I was out for 5 hours (including driving around the pickup spots). We were a nice group of 15 people.

5.00We went on our Norther Lights tour with Bjarni (Barny). To say he was incredible is an understatement, his knowledge about Iceland is phenomenal, his ability to spread his knowledge to us all made the experience so much more interesting. He knew exactly what to look for and decided we should hold out for another 5 minutes which is when the Northern Lights really came out. Such an enjoyable experience with Bjarni!

5.00My Northern Lights Trip was handled by Thor Travel, Iceland with Bjarni Gaukur (BG) as the guide on Dec 20, 2025. Bjarni Gaukur provides an EXCELLENT experience all around. He is organized, on time, clear with instructions and explanations. The mini bus is comfortable and clean. Bjarni Gaukur provides information on the Northern Lights on the drive that helps pass the time in an enjoyable way. He had a few extra tripods on hand that he let us use to take our own pictures. Bjarni Gaukur is a top notch, professional guide. I highly recommend his services.

5.00It was too much!!!! We spent a good time waiting, with the important collaboration of our guide BG, an incredible person and very professional.And finally we saw, for a good time, the aurora boreal. Great experience.
