Weaving through Russafa's market, Jordi pointed out the meats, and exact vegetables we'd be using that day. He even paused to chat with a friend who runs one of the spice stalls. That personal touch made it memorable. Once at his home, we spread out around the table and he casually assigned tasks – peeling, chopping, pouring. It made it easy to connect with others in the group. I learned more about rice varietys than I expected, and why certain ones are better for paella. The lunch we sat down to was beautiful. I'll be trying the recipe as soon as I'm back.

The paella class at Jordi was just great! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with his infectious laugh – you can immediately tell that he is there with all his heart. It was much more than just a cooking class: We were spoiled with real sangria, delicious tapas, good wine, a small schnapps and even dessert. The paella was of course the highlight – phenomenal in taste and authentically prepared. A perfect blend of pleasure, fun and Spanish zest for life. Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience with Jordi and guests making authentic paella. We were taken to the local market to buy all the fresh ingredients and then welcomed to Jordi’s home where we had sangria and tapas before preparing for the main event. Jordi involved all the group and made it a very fun experience making the paella which tasted amazing. I hope I can re create it when I’m home with the special gift. Jordi was an excellent host and made everyone feel very welcome and my teenage children throughly enjoyed themselves. I would highly recommend that if you’re in Valencia booking this fantastic experience.

The paella cooking class with Jordi was perfect! He was a super guide, very friendly and competent. The atmosphere was relaxed, the ingredients fresh, and at the end there was a delicious paella to enjoy. Highly recommended!

It was truly an amazing experience. The market, the atmosphere, the people, the paella, everything perfect. I went alone, but never felt lonely or uncomfortable. Jordi is a very nice and funny person as well as a very good chef. You will have fun and meet new people while enjoying sangria and learning how to cook a typical paella valenciana. Totally recommended!

Cooking with Jordi is like joining a friend for lunch. No pressure, no formality – just good food and good company. I ended up cutting onions while chatting with a couple from Germany, and before we knew it the paella was halfway done. I learned a few tips about layering ingrediants for better flavour. Everything felt easy and unhurried. We ate until the last spoonful disappeared and somehow the afternoon just flew by. Definately one of the more personal things I've done while travelling.

Jordi is very friendly and helpful and speaks excellent English. The whole experience was a lot of fun, visiting the market was great, and I can't wait to put my new recipe into practice when I get back home.

If you ever get the chance to take a paella class with Chef Jordy, do it — it’s an absolute must. What could have been a purely educational afternoon turned into one of the most fun, flavorful and social experiences of my trip. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and lively. Jordy greeted everyone with a smile, set the tone with some background music, and poured a welcome glass of Sangria. It immediately felt more like joining a dinner party than attending a formal cooking lesson. The Flow of the Class We began with a selection of appetizers — little bites of amazing appetizers, served on crisp bread — enough to stave off hunger while the paella cooked. Jordy walked us step by step through selecting ingredients, cooking techniques, and timing. He was both patient and engaging, always ready to answer questions and even share little anecdotes about Spanish culinary traditions. As we stirred the saffron, broths, vegetables, and rice, laughter and conversation flowed. The music in the background added just the right vibe — not intrusive, but it made everything feel festive. While the paella simmered, we poured more wine and sampled more appetizers. It gave us time to relax, mingle and enjoy the moment. The Outcome When we finally sat down to eat, the paella was simply spectacular: beautifully golden, hearty yet balanced, with that slightly crisp bottom (the socarrat) that’s so prized. It was clear that Chef Jordy’s guidance made a real difference in the final result. The portions were generous, and we got seconds. More wine followed, and the afternoon stretched on in the best way — lingering conversation, a little dancing, full bellies, and a new friend made over shared cooking adventures. What stood out / strengths The fun factor — this was never a stiff “watch me cook” lecture. Everyone participated. The balance of teaching + socializing. You learn real techniques, but not at the expense of enjoyment. The appetizers and wine — they elevated the event from “cooking class” to “culinary celebration.” Jordy’s personality — friendly, funny, encouraging, and clearly very capable in the kitchen. A real 5 star experience!
