Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi

Garibaldi Square is the hub of Parma. The civic center of the city was located here, as opposed to the religious center located a few hundred meters away and represented by Piazza Duomo. This square is also commonly called Piazza del Comune or Piazza Grande .

The elegant Renaissance building of Santa Maria della Steccata is the first church in Parma to be built with a central plan. Inside we will see one of the masterpieces of Francesco Mazzola, known as Parmigianino: the large arch above the main altar, frescoed between 1533 and 1539.

This was a great way to get a guided self tour. We do like our waking tours but did not want to make a commitment on time. This was a perfect way to make sure we saw the sites and got some of history at our own pace and on our own time. We ended up buying 3 guides!

Well done. It was a rainy day in Parma and this made it better (esp the Osteria di Servi restaurant).

We've moved to 1. Booked a virtual tour and are thrilled. It was a very well planned route, which we were able to interrupt individually and continue the following day. Wonderful to see Parma's highlights, walking through the city. There was also market so that was fun to experience. If you are not familiar this is a fun experience for discovering a city
