Drummond Gardens

Drummond Castle Gardens, nestled near Crieff in Perthshire, Scotland, are celebrated as one of Europe’s most exquisite formal gardens. Their rich history, intricate design, and cinematic allure make them a must-visit destination for garden enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Established in the early 17th century by John Drummond, 2nd Earl of Perth, the gardens underwent significant transformations over the centuries. In the 19th century, under the guidance of landscape gardener Lewis Kennedy—formerly of Empress Josephine’s Malmaison—the gardens were redesigned to reflect a blend of French and Italian styles. Queen Victoria’s visit in 1842 further cemented their prestige, commemorated by the planting of two copper beech trees that still grace the grounds today. The gardens are renowned for their symmetrical parterre, forming a St Andrew’s Cross at its heart, centered around a 17th-century obelisk sundial crafted by master mason John Mylne. This sundial, with its 61 faces.

Out of everything we did in Edinburgh, this was most definitely the biggest highlight It was an amazing day and our driver, Saf, was very professional and took us to some very beautiful places. I highly recommend this trip!!!!

Mr. Saf was the perfect host. He was very informative, friendly, accommodating and great driver :) My husband and I enjoyed our day very much. Well worth it.

Absolutely loved the Perthshire & Drummond Castle tours. We felt at ease instantly and was taken such good care of. Hope We will take another private tour from Love Scotland and Edinburgh Tours soon. Lovely Experience.
