Tips for your guide
We will be meeting in Chueca Square ('Plaza de Chueca') from where we will start our walking tour. We will head to the first historic tavern to taste a traditional style of Vermouth, poured on tap. You will get historic facts about the tradition of drinking Vermouth in Madrid as well as a definition of what Vermouth is; how it is made and the different kinds of Vermouth. Thereafter, we will go to the second tavern to experience a modern style of Vermouth, very trendy nowadays in Spain and served as a cocktail along with fantastic 'Gordal' olives, the biggest and very meaty kind of olives from the Andalusian region. You will obtain insights about bottled Vermouths and the different styles wineries are currently producing in Spain. To continue with our wine discovery, we will head to the third tavern where we will taste 3 wonderful Spanish wines, starting with a Cava (a fabulous Spanish Sparkling wine made following the traditional method), followed by 2 still wines (a white and a red wines or two red wines). All wines and vermouths will be paired with delicious and tasty Spanish tapas. Also, you will get an explanation about wine tasting techniques and the stages of a wine tasting; interesting facts about each of the wineries producing the wines we will taste; the characteristics of each Designation of Origin where they are located; the specific 'terroir' (the area) where vines grow and tips about the ageing system of Spanish wines and how to read labels! (very useful when choosing and buying wines). What to expect: • A comprehensive, picturesque and fun vermouth and wine tasting route in Central Madrid • Explanation about the winemaking techniques of each of the wines/vermouths we will taste • Description of Food and wine pairing principles • Wine tasting of 5 Vermouths/wines and tapas to match the wines

The best experience in the world! Jimena was amazing throughout the tour. We learned a lot of wines, label, the History, and we met places in Madrid that were amazing in terms of tapas/meals and wines. 100% recommended! Thank you so much, Jimena.

What a wonderful experience! Jimena was the highlight as she is knowledgeable, warm & charismatic. Very generous pours of wine, full glasses unlike other tasting tours I’ve been on. The food paired well & was delicious, especially the piping hot fried calamari. Tried Vermouth for the first time which was surprising & delightful. It was on tap at a charming tavern that’s been around since 1908. Worth the price & Jimena takes personal preferences into consideration

We had a great time with Jimena. We went to several different cute places and tasted really great wine and tapas. Notably, the last tapa was supposed to be potato brava, and when I told her I prefered a spanish tortilla we actually changed places to a place she liked more for that particular dish and it really was outstanding. I also really enjoyed getting to see the Chueca neighborhood.

Jemina was so accommodating to our adjusted travel schedule. We got a great overall feel for spanish food and beverages in the places she took us. Found out Vermouth isn't so bad! She was so knowledgeable about wines and the local culture. She showed us a great evening! Highly recommend.

A wonderful way to start off our visit to Madrid! Jimena is just terrific, so friendly and welcoming. Not only did we taste some wines and tapas, we also had vermouth which was a really pleasant surprise. This is not your martini vermouth (in case you were wondering); definitely worth trying! Jimena is also a sommelier, provided lots of great information about the different wine regions throughout Spain. I particularly liked the Monastrell. She shared lots of history about some of the restaurants we visited, places we would never have found on our own. Highly recommend this private tour!

We had a marvelous time with Jimena. She was warm, knowledgeable, and took us to all the right spots. If we ever come back to Madrid, we’ll be sure to look her up. We particularly enjoyed the premium wines and how she had a great relationship with the bars and restaurants we visited.

Jimina was very knowledgable about the wines and locations we were visiting. Even though we had been to one of the places before, she was able to add local colour and knowledge.
