Castelo de Palmela
Palmela Castle is located at one of the highest points in Serra da Arrábida. It is a difficult to access location and therefore ideal for fulfilling its territorial defense function. During the Christian Reconquista led by D. Afonso Henriques, first king of Portugal, Palmela was part of the defense line south of the Tagus. At that time, the king donated the territories of Palmela, Almada and Alcácer to the Order of Sant'Iago da Espada for defense and settlement. In 1205, D. Sancho I confirmed the donation and installed the Chapter of the Order in the castle. In the century. XV, D. João I ordered a series of restoration works to be carried out, especially in the keep and ordered the construction of the convent that would become the seat of the Order from 1443 onwards. The castle also underwent some changes in the 14th century. XVII, under order of D. Pedro II. The friars remained in the Santiago convent until the extinction of the religious orders in 1834.
Mercado do Livramento
Built to replace another market, demolished in 1876, it was opened in 1930. The interior was completely remodeled following renovation work on the facilities carried out between 2010 and 2011. The tile panels inside stand out, depicting the city's various economic activities, designed by Portuguese engraver and painter Pedro Pinto, dating from 1929. At the north entrance there are also, on both sides, two other panels by Rosa Rodrigues, with images of the city, dating from 1944. In June 2014, the North American magazine USA Today recognized Mercado do Livramento as one of the best fish markets in the world.

5.00Amazing tour and tour guide. We took another tour with Hugo earlier in the week. We enjoyed it so much that we contacted him to do another tour before we left. Luckily, he had a last-minute cancellation due to weather. We told him we wanted to experience nature, culture, and history. We let him choose which tour, and he chose this one. Perfect pick. Hugo lets you experience current Portugal culture and history while making you feel like long-time friends. Definitely let him guide you for his lunch pick and what to try. The meals we had on his tours were some of the best we had in Portugal. Hugo also knows his history and effortlessly answers questions. If you want a tour where you feel relaxed and taken care of- take a tour with Hugo (this was a private tour, but the other tour we took was shared and we still felt special on that one too!

5.00The best agency The Guru Guide and the best tourist guide in Portugal, Hugo. The tour with it will be an upgrade to your vacation. If you want a tour with a truly personalized experience, starting with a search at your hotel and ending back in the same place, a tour in your time, your way, don't waste time looking for other agencies. I will be staying 12 days in Portugal with the family and have done 9 tours, I can guarantee that I have known almost all agencies and none compare the service offered by The Guru Guide. Hugo learned to respect our time in the morning still quiet and sleepy, with a discreet tone, but completely professional, he managed to create a light and welcoming environment, the conversations were easy, friendly of various topics and laughs were spontaneous, in the end we seemed friends for many years. I recommend all the tours that the agency offers, without reservations. Search on the company’s website for the various options. Hugo is a great driver, the car was clean, supplied with mineral water, phone charger and WiFi. It knows all the sights and history of each place, the landscapes are stunning, and made our experience unforgettable. We made several stops, took a lot of photos and had free time to contemplate, walk, all in our own way. The restaurant indication for lunch was amazing, prices are honest and dishes very well served, the food is delicious. You can trust the tip that has no mistake. The guide knows every instagramavel place that gives incredible photos and memories of the tour, in addition to being a good photographer as well. Hugo said that he could adjust the tour and add activities according to our interests, he did not hesitate to adjust the route for us to buy some crafts in Setubal and the famous sweet local in Sesimbra, the Olive Pie. Always attentive to the demand and the needs of the group, visualized that my elderly mother with knee problems needed more care and attention, Hugo with all kindness and patience helped and accompanied her for much of the walk. Sounds basic, but believe it is a differential. The day was light and the time passed quickly, the memories are eternalized forever, I am very grateful to Hugo for the incredible work he does. When I return to Portugal, I will definitely use his services and indicate to everyone.

5.00This was one of the best tours we have ever taken. The sites were fabulous, and food experience was the best we had during our Portugal visit. Hugo, the tour guide and owner, was personable, had great stories , and took his time to ensure we experienced everything, even throwing in a side tour while in the National park. He stretched our tour from 8 hours to ten and dropped us off at our Vrbo afterwards. I strongly recommend this tour and would take it again in an instant.

5.00Hugo is an excellent guide, host, driver. Highlights: The iconic bridge, then to a castle fortress with great foggy views. On to the beautiful city of Sutebal and the market, walking around the town, lunch at a cafe with a (now sunny) views. On to the countryside and the national park and "California beach" and an old abandoned monestary (spooky for halloween) with mind-blowing open views. It was a great full day with our charming and interesting/interested host. Book him! You will be glad!

5.005 Hugo from Guru Guide, was the best! Our trip to Setúbal and the surrounding area was wonderful! We loved the beauty of the coastline, the churches and the castle, and of coarse the great lunch!
