Get ready for a truly unique adventure! We start with a convenient pickup from your city hotel and explore how tropical wildlife thrives just minutes from Panama City’s busy streets.
Our journey often begins near the Biomuseo, a small but vibrant tropical green area overlooking the Pacific Ocean, where we may spot colorful birds and, with luck, two-toed sloths calmly resting in the trees while enjoying the sea breeze.
We then continue to the former Albrook military base, where our experienced guides know the favorite spots of the three-toed sloth, often resting high in Cecropia trees.
If needed, the adventure continues to Ancon Hill for a moderate walk along a paved path, surrounded by lush tropical forest and occasional city views. No zoos or enclosures—just sloths living freely in their natural habitat.
After a 3-hour urban nature experience, we return you inspired and ready to enjoy Panama, with helpful local tips from our passionate, sloth-loving guides.
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
If you are staying in Dreams or westin playa bonita the meeting point / drop off location will be Plaza Herrera. You need an Uber.
We do not touch, feed, or get close to the sloths, as they live freely in their natural habitat, usually high up in the trees.
This is a sustainable tour; we do not disturb or alter the animals’ natural habitat in any way
Please keep in mind that in the tropical forest, sloths may be easy or hard to spot—each day is different.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador)
The Amador Causeway, located near the Biomuseo, is surrounded by a unique tropical dry–to–moist forest ecosystem that has naturally regenerated over time. This green area is considered part of Panama City’s urban tropical forest, where native vegetation thrives despite being close to the city. The forested slopes and islands around the causeway are home to wildlife such as sloths, iguanas, monkeys, and tropical birds, making it a rare example of biodiversity within an urban setting. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the Panama Canal, and the Biomuseo highlights how Panama uniquely blends modern infrastructure with protected natural landscapes, offering visitors a chance to experience tropical nature just minutes from downtown.
Panama City
The area surrounding Albrook, near the former Albrook Air Force Base, is dominated by a well-preserved tropical moist forest that today forms part of the Metropolitan Natural Park (Parque Natural Metropolitano). This forest is one of the most important urban green spaces in Panama City and represents a remnant of the original tropical forest that once covered the canal zone. Despite being located next to busy areas such as Albrook Mall and major highways, the park protects rich biodiversity, including sloths, monkeys, toucans, parrots, and hundreds of plant species. The forest plays a key ecological role by regulating temperature, improving air quality, and serving as a biological corridor connected to the Panama Canal watershed, making it a prime example of a thriving tropical forest within a metropolitan environment.

This experience is a must , the canoe trip on the lake and river is peaceful and relaxing . You see birds and smaller waterfalls on the way. The native tribe we visited was so nice, the food was delicious and you also get to really see and understand their life. The walk to the big waterfall is mildly physical. Our tour guide Saul was the best nice and very knowledgeable
