Treat yourself to a wonderful day in one of Beijing's famous attraction. Beijing’s Old Summer Palace is known in Chinese as Yuanming Yuan, or ‘the Gardens of Perfect Brightness’. It used to be the most splendid royal garden, reputed as being the "Garden of Gardens". The Size of the palace is about 8½ times the size of the Forbidden City. However, a fire destroyed the grand garden, taking away its glory and only leaving behind the ruins and history.

This is an enormous park which is well worth a visit. The actual palace was destroyed by the British but the ruins are impressive. We had to show our passport to gain entrance but it wasn't scanned so honestly I don't know if I had a ticket or not. It isn't very well signposted for people who don't speak Chinese so I suggest downloading a map on your mobile
