Tempe or Tempeh is excellent food for vegan/vegetarian. Get to know more about this super food from how it is being made as well as how the local, where the food is originally from, cook it on their daily cooking. We will introduce of Balinese and Indonesia cooking with tempe as the highlight. Along with tempe, we will use all fresh ingredients from the market. The cooking is so easy, and after the class you will feel confident that you can already start cooking at home to share with family and friends.

This special vegan friendly Bali Cooking Class starts at 09.30 AM and finish by 12.30, and the Lunch. Join us to learn more about Balinese Indonesian authentic recipes involving colorful of Indonesian vibrant spices over 3 hours cooking class. We'll use fresh plant base ingredients, and cook them all from the scratch. During the class we'll take you to learn the highlight of Tempeh making process. Tempeh or Tempe is a Super Food, an Indonesia original from Java. Known since 1600 century, Tempe is food for everyone, rich of protein and many nutrients. Then we'll be ready to cook our tasteful Balinese Lunch at our open air kitchen studio. We'll make some dishes from Tempe, refreshing Sayur Urab a vegetable dish made of some greens and beans mixed with grilled coconut grated, and some local recipes. We'll add some Chicken and Tuna, or we'll skip this if you are vegan. Finally we will enjoy our creation by sharing seven dishes of tasty Balinese Indonesian Lunch in the garden with family atmosphere of our cozy house. What a wonderful experience! We were welcomed warmly into the instructor's family compound on a beautiful sunny morning. The class took place in an immaculate outdoor kitchen where everything was prepared and ready to go. What fun we had learning all about traditional Balinese food and how to prepare it, being allowed to fully participate in most of the steps. Cleanliness and safety were top priority in this kitchen. We sat down to a lovely meal to eat all that we had helped to prepare. This class was one of the highlights of our entire trip to Bali.

We had the most amazing time at this cooking class. I couldn’t stop grinning the whole time. Ayu and Irene were so lovely, it was so nice learning about Indonesian/Balinese culture from them. The food tasted incredible and it was really fun to make. We can’t wait to return to the UK and try to make tempeh ourselves, hopefully it’ll work in our cold weather! Definitely a highlight of our whole trip :)

A must do if you are in Bali, Ayu and Ngurah are amazing people and will guide you expertly through Balinese cuisine. Plus you will have the opportunity to taste everything and at the end there will be a lunch together with the prepared dishes We loved it!

The class is so much fun and informative. Ibu Ayu is very friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about Balinese culture. And the most important thing, the foods are yummy and best part she will give you the recipe to bring home. Great experience and definitely worth your time.

Ayu and her family were amazing hosts and we had a terrific time. We learned about authentic Balinese food and traditions. There language skills were flawless. The food itself was really good. A wonderful way to spend the morning and lunch time. Highly recommended!!!

Would highly recommend this! Was honestly one of the best experiences we’ve had in Bali and by far the most delicious food we’ve ate during our stay. Ayu is simply an exceptional host. Each one of us were completely thrilled by her impeccable teaching skills and her extensive knowledge on cooking. With such a kind heart she made us feel right at home. On top of that it’s definitely not an easy task taking on a group of 10 people in one session haha! Can’t express enough gratitude for Ayu and her wonderful family. If I had the chance I would definitely come back again!

It is located in a quiet residential area. We learned how to make tempeh and how to make local dishes using tempeh and fresh ingredients. The English explanations are very easy to understand, and the instructor, Ayu, answers all our questions carefully. They also cater to vegans. We were given detailed recipes. The staff were all friendly, and it was a really great experience for all participants. We can take home a kit to make tempeh. The follow-up service for fermenting tempeh was also very helpful. We were able to make tempeh safely. I would like to participate again if I have the opportunity.

The perfect experience! The whole family was incredibly welcoming, and their homestay was gorgeous. The whole process was very streamlined, and Ayu taught us so much about each individual ingredient as we walked through each recipe. Ngurah also went out of his way to go to a local market to purchase some tempeh starter for us because we expressed an interest in making tempeh ourselves at home. I cannot stop telling my friends about this experience, and I really encourage anyone visiting Bali to pay them a visit.

Ayu is such a wonderful host. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about cooking. We made several tempeh based dishes and talked about the history of tempeh as we went. It was fascinating to see how tempeh is made and learn all the different ways I could cook it. Ayu also caters to non-vegans so this class is great for all dietary requirements. The end product was delicious and well presented. I left very full and can't wait to try some of the recipes at home. Ayu also does online cooking classes which I can't wait to join! Thanks for the great experience and conversation Ayu.

Easily one of the best activities to do in Bali. It's so much more than just a cooking class. I learned so much about the Balinese history and culture through this activity. Cannot thank Ayu and Ngurah enough for the experience! The food... was Devine! Learning how to make them made me appreciate it so much more.
