Looking for an authentic San Francisco experience? Trade the tour bus for a vintage Volkswagen van that easily navigates the city’s less-traveled lanes. Vantigo’s San Francisco City Tour takes you through 14 famed districts, complete with views of Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, Twin Peaks and several other storied landmarks. Along the way, we’ll share tales of earthquakes that shaped the landscape, industrial shifts from the 1849 Gold Rush to the rise of Silicon Valley, 1960s counterculture, and surprising insights that only a local would know.
Once your Vantigo City Tour is complete, you will be dropped off at the Alcatraz terminal where you will pick up your tickets for your self-guided Alcatraz tour. Your departure time will be provided by Vantigo once your booking is complete (Alcatraz tours generally depart between 1pm-3pm).

5.00Go and take the tour with Chad, you won't be disappointed, it's excellent, the man's knowledge is superb. Taken to all the hot spots, and the super lille, she is beautiful.

5.00OMG! What a fun tour! Riding around San Francisco with Chad and Harvey was the most fun my nieces and I had on our trip this past week. It was a great overview of the city with lots of information, but done in such a fun way. I actually plan on doing this again next year when I’m back with my husband.

5.00We had so much fun with Chad and "Harvey" on a recent Sunday morning. Having grown up in San Francisco, Chad is a cornucopia of knowledge about the city and I learned facts I did not know previously. He has a great personality and treats his guests with care and a sense of humor. Being a Sunday, the traffic was lighter than normal and that made it nice for seeing the sites. Chad let each of the guests take a turn sitting up front with him as well. This is a great tour for seeing the main sites that gives guests ideas of where they might like to explore more fully on their own. I really enjoyed his restaurant recommendations and we took advantage of one of his lunch spots near the wharf before our trip over to Alcatraz. I highly recommend the half day bus tour of the city with Vantigo. It's a great way to see the city through the eyes of a local and with a more intimate group size. Kudos Chad!

5.00We had an amazing time on our Vantigo tour. Our family group consisted of three generations ranging in age from 6 to 73 years old with various interests/temperaments and Chad was adept at calmly catering to us all. He had fun activities to keep the little ones occupied during the drive, cool music that at one stage we all sang along to like The Griswalds and a variety of Must See Spots with all the interesting facts you'd never know about on your own. A fab alternative to your bog standard bus tour with crackly radio commentary and the wind blowing your hat off. Highly recommended. Our only regret was not having an extra day in this beautiful city to leave the kids with Nanna and book into one of Vantigo's beer tours!!

5.00Chad was as enthusiastic and as fresh as someone guiding for the first time and as knowledgeable as someone doing it for the thousandth time. I love the 1971 VW van, Chad's soundtrack ( both his live commentary and his appropriate playlist!) Can't recommend this highly enough, do it

5.00Many thanks to Chad our tour guide from Vantigo Tours for making our brief visit to SanFrancisco nothing short of amazing. The SanFrancisco Alcatraz combo was the perfect combination as we only had 36 hours in this beautiful city. Chad was a breath of sunshine, polite and loads of fun as he and the yellow VW Jerry navigated the streets, taking us to all the major sights in SanFrancisco. Chads knowledge was awesome, we had many photo opportunities. We laughed , enjoyed the music and commentary throughout the tour. We never felt rushed & still managed to see the sights in half a day. After the city sights we were safely dropped off to the pier where we were catching the boat to Alcatraz. This was a seamless transition as our tickets were secure as they were part of the tour package with Vantigo. I have no hesitation in recommending Vantigo - we love the small group tours and this tour ticked all the boxes and was one of our highlights on our trip to USA. Thanks again Chad - 😊👍

5.00I took my 2 college age kids on the VW SF Tour / Alcatraz Combo. Chad was a fantastic guide! We learned a lot, and had so much fun. I would highly recommend. Thanks Chad for the fun, and for taking pictures of us along the way. Great memories! Kids absolutely loved it! Dave in Pennsylvania

5.00If you only have a day free in San Francisco, then this is what you need. Chad the guide was fantastic, and Harvey the VW van was amazing!! Great experience.
