Learn about the history of Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington as the capital city, our local maritime history and natural environment as we take you on a 90 minute cruise around the harbour.
Our tour takes in different parts of the harbour depending on conditions on the day. We're the busiest operator on Wellington Harbour at over 9,000 crossings per year, so our team knows where to go to take in all the best sights, regardless of conditions.

As this tour is on a fully electric passenger ferry, we do not need to compete with engine noise, meaning we're able to travel at a leisurely pace and you can hear our guides easily throughout the whole journey. Easily manoeuvre around the vessel, enjoying the open top deck or enclosed bottom cabin (commentary can be heard both upstairs and downstairs).

5.00We stayed in Wellington for four days in late January. We had looked online for a harbor cruise but had a hard time finding one. As we were walking along the Queen's Warf, we saw a group of happy people disembarking from the Ika Rere, and decided to book the next day. This was an excellent tour and we learned a lot about the area - very educational! But any day out on a boat is a good day and despite some wind (what a surprise!) and some sprinkles, we had a wonderful time and highly recommend this as a trip in Welly! Craig and T

4.00We had booked to go on the electric ferry but sadly it was out of service. We would have rated the cruise 5 stars if it had been available, as per our booking. The cruise was interesting and the commentary comprehensively. The staff were friendly and professional and the Wellington Harbour is beautiful.

5.00How exciting to tour Wellington Harbour on an electric boat, allowing you to hear the knowledgable commentary while supporting the environment. It was lovely and relaxing way to explore the enormous working harbour, seeing all the bays that are home to the people of Wellington. The boat has and open and exposed viewing deck and an inside deck with large viewing windows and a cafe. We explored between the decks, having some food and drinks to make the journey more relaxing. In small groups (2) you are allowed to visit the bridge and have a slightly different view. The staff were very helpful. A must do while you are visiting Wellington.

5.00Loved it! All the history and information about the area that you could want. Neatly presented. And what can I say about the crew… So friendly so welcoming… Answered any and all questions and even asked us if we wanted to come up to the bridge for a peek. Highly recommended.
