Zaanse Schans
The windmill village Zaanse Schans is an open air museum that houses a collection of working windmills, wooden houses, barns and shops dating back to the 18th and 19th Century. All these buildings were brought here from 1961 on, bringing back to life this most prosperous period of the Zaan region.

You will visit the clog museum annex wooden shoemaker shop, here you will watch traditional craftsmen at work, making clogs and other artefacts

3.00The bus was 40 min late in starting. The guide was very nice and gave a bit of information. He could have filled the 20 min ride with extra historical facts. 5 minute shoe demo was very interacting as well as the 5 min cheese talk…then you are on your own to explore. The attractions at the site charge you extra to go in. We ended up paying extra to take the city bus because our group was running late.

1.00Our tickets read 1:30, our taxi driver had problems trying to find the meeting place,lots of road construction, we were 5 minutes late,no one was there,and would not answer the phone number we called...NOT HAPPY AT ALL. Additionally, the meeting location that was set is a café which is permanently closed and has for sale signs in all windows.

2.00Booked this tour and the guide falsely claimed he waited 10 minutes before leaving, even though I sent him messages well within that time and no one was at the meeting point. I rebooked for the next day with a different (excellent) guide, but was charged again and denied a refund for the first booking. Poor handling of customer communication and no accountability—be cautious.
