The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'Étoile—the étoile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues.

Arc de Triomphe
A unique viewpoint. From the top of the panoramic terrace, your eyes sweep over the whole of Paris. The revisited Antiquity. Architect Jean-François Chalgrin was inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus in a single arch, but went beyond it by exceptional dimensions (about 50 m high, 45 m long and 22 m wide) and abandoning columns. A key place of major national events. Wanted by Napoleon in 1806, the Arc de Triomphe was inaugurated in 1836 by French king, Louis-Philippe, who dedicated it to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire. The Unknown Soldier was buried at the base of the arch in 1921. The flame of remembrance is rekindled every day at 18:30.

3.00It wasn’t clear how to book a guide. I checked several dates, but there was never an option to add one, even though the description mentioned it. When I went, my priority ticket only got me ahead of three people. Maybe it’s busier on other days, but during my visit there were plenty of people, just all with timed entry. The priority ticket didn’t really make a difference. I’d recommend saving your money and purchasing directly from the Arch website instead.

1.00I would have put zero stars if it was an option. I presented the tickets at the site and was turned away and told they weren't valid. We ended up paying for tickets again at the site so my 80 year old mom didn't have to queue again. I requested a refund and was denied. Very unhappy with our experience.

5.00With priority access, we didn’t have to make the long line. We showed our tickets and began our climb up to the top. Very tiring, but worth the breathtaking views!
