This tour takes you to Aveiro considered by many as the "Venice of Portugal" which is famous for its large network of canals running through the city. In this Tour you will also take a cruise on a "moliceiro" boat (a traditional boat from this city) which will take you along the channels as you admire the city’s unique tile facades. You will also have the opportunity to see the colorful houses in Costa Nova. Aveiro has a rich and varied gastronomy, and the “soft eggs” - a very sweet desert are also one the main representations of Aveiro.

2.00There were a few things that went wrong with this tour. 1. We arrived 20 mins early to the pick up time only to not find a bus or contact person. The meeting location listed in the Viator app, website, and printable ticket for incorrect. It sends you to the tour company's sales office. This was an early tour and the office lady said the office was closed. We asked for thr tour pick up location and she said it was up the street. Up and down the street on the hill we went with no sight of anything. Contacted the tour company and Viator via the app to figure out the correct location. Finally, got a call from the tour company who said the pick up location was by the cathedral (not what was listed and directly across from the hotel we were staying). Once we arrived to the bus the guide advised us we were late and I explained the situation and her response was "oh Viator is still listing it wrong". So a problem they're aware of but don't seem to be correcting. 4 persons missed the tour for unknown reasons but maybe they couldn't find the pick up. 2. Both towns they take you to was closed for season. In first town only a few cafes were open for pastries and coffee but that's it. The second town had nothing open. We asked the guide what was the reason and he said its the low season and most people are on vacation. 3. The boat ride was ok at best but there is nothing to see from the boat and mostly a waste of time. It was raining heavily and I thought the boat portion might be canceled, but if they cancel the boat ride this tour would be left with nothing else. Maybe during a different time of the year this is a better tour but not in December, which is why i gave this 2 stars in hopes it might be better during another time. But it makes you wonder why the tour company still offers it during this time if they are aware of the situation. Maybe they just was tourists money and don't care about the experience for the tourist.

5.00Paul was great! He explained everything very well from the beginning from telling us how long it would take to get to Aveiro, how much time we would have there to how long it would take to get to Costa Nova. He also explained the history in each city and pointed out landmarks on the way.

5.00We had a wonderful time! Stress free comfortable bus ride to Aveiro and a lovely boat ride down the canal. We had about half an hour to walk around the town before boarding the bus for costa nova. We had about 20 minutes to walk around there. Our guide was great. Very personable and knowledgeable and gave us some history and answered all our questions. The price was great too. Would highly recommend if you want to check out Aveiro with no hassle. I would've liked a little more time to walk around, but it was a fun tour

3.00Unfortunately, I cannot rate this experience highly. The guide spoke in both English and Spanish but far more Spanish than English and for extended periods at a time. By the time we heard it in English, we were beyond whatever he was pointing out. Also, the stop in Costa Nova was basically a waste of time...we had time to walk to the beach and back. Most of the stores were closed, which would have been nice to know. Similarly, the Aveiro stop was disappointing. The "boats" take you up a canal (by motor), turn around and come back. I think we did 3 different canals, up and back. The canals are located on the edge of town so you never really get to see the town. We had a little free time and walked a bit of a distance to some small shops and cafes before it was time to walk all the way back to the van. Finally, because it was rush hour when we returned, we were let off at a different location from where we left. Fortunately, we had someone with us who could steer us back to the hotel which turned out to be quite a ways away. All of us agreed that we would not recommend this tour.
