Forbidden City-The Palace Museum
Forbidden City, the largest Imperial Palace in the world. you will spend a couple of hours wandering around this amazing example of Imperial architecture and learning about the history of the palace. Forbidden City was the imperial palace from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. For around 500 years , it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government. The tour route : Forbidden City is divided into two parts. The southern section, or the Outer Court was where the emperor exercised his supreme power over the nation. The northern section, or the Inner Court was where he lived with his royal family.
Shichahai Scenic Resort
Walk around old Beijing hutong at the downtown area. Hutong is a Mongolian word meaning water well. At nine meters (about 30 feet) wide, it is the name given to a lane or small street that originated during the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368). Now they have become representatives of local culture, thus it is the first choice for people who would like to learn about the local history and culture.

Mutianyu Great Wall is a one of the most famous and ideal sections of the Great Wall. You will have your choice of taking the cable car or chair lift up the breathtaking wall and spend a leisurely 1 to 2 hours hiking up and down the various sections exploring the Watch Towers and marveling at the construction and beauty of the renown and legendary Wall. You then have the option of an exhilarating toboggan ride back down or simply return the way you came.

5.00We have managed to visit most of the highlights with Lena during our 3 day trip to Beijing. Lena was awesome, really educated and it was a pleasure to spend our time with her. The driver was great too!
Complete and super satisfying. Catherine Lu is always careful to cast her doubts, from Brazil to China.

Lilian (Liz) is very competent, became a friend of the class. I recommend to everyone with a maximum score, it is 10, è difficult to make this trip without professionals of this quality.

5.00My family and I had Sonia as our guide who took us to the main sites of Beijing and to the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall. Sonia was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and made our trip very enjoyable. In our party, we had 5 adults and 3 children. We were able to arrange for our own private transportation through Catherine Lu tours and picked up directly from our hotel. This made it so easy for us. They also gave us great tips for restaurants and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days with Sonia. Would highly recommend this tour company and Sonia as a guide.

5.00This tour was excellent for our visit in China Beijing. Sonie was the best guide and was always attentive and available to all our queries and requests. We traveled with older gentlemen and she was always attentive to them and to make them okay. He helped us in the trade, always attentive and giving us suggestions; he organized restaurants with authentic local measure very good. He was key in suggesting the times to visit the attractions and explaining each of them. We definitely recommend this private tour for your visit to Beijing, and ask for the guide Sonie is definitely the best!!!

5.00Catherine Lu personally organized our custom trip in Beijing. And now we’re off to Xi’an for the next leg, still working with Catherine. Planning for this began some months ago, and has changed numerous times because of changes on our end with friends here. In each case, Catherine Lu was flexible and helpful. The organization and her staff were superb. Catherine gets back to you when you have concerns and makes sure that all of any potential issues are taken care of. We feel that this is a top notch company all the way. This week, Lena (tour guide) with driver Mr Li were fabulous. They took care of every need and arrangement. Every worry we could have had was overcome by their understanding and their preparedness. They picked us up from the train station in Beijing and immediately took us to the Summer Palace for touring. What a gorgeous place, and Lena filled us in on all of the details and stories that took place there. We had a lovely tour there, and then they drove us to our hotel in the hutongs and waited for us while we got settled in. Lena took us for a brief stroll and introduction to the hutongs around our hotel, and then we set off for Jingshan Park to get some exercise walking through the beautiful park while Lena told us about its history. when we reached the top, we could see the roofs of the Forbidden City below us. Lena provided many insights and stories that were fascinating. Afterwards, the tour included dinner at a wonderful local Beijing restaurant. The food was fabulous. The following day was our time on the Great Wall. What an experience! Again, Lena was full of great information and stories. She shared so much insight about the Wall, what life would have been like for the soldiers who guarded there, and how the signal towers would warn the people who depended on the Wall for protection. She told us about the peasant lady whose husband was drafted to work on the wall, and about the foolish emperor who “cried wolf” one time too many! Lena was kind, patient, and always answered questions with super information, as well as always suggesting places to take our picture to make our trip memorable. Chatting with her, it was also great to get to know her as a person and what her life is like outside of her tour guide job. We enjoyed the human touches she put into each moment. This made the trip so very special, and for this we thank her so much. Lena was always concerned for our comfort and our health. She made sure that on the way back from the Wall we would learn of and take the shortcut so that we wouldn’t be quite as tired from this long day. After the Wall, another wonderful local meal, followed by a tour of the beautiful and not-to-be-missed Temple of Heaven. Today, we had another impressive and interesting tour This time of Tiananmen Square and the phenomenal, layers of sections in the Forbidden City. We wished we had had more time because the forbidden city simply goes on and on and on. However, we had booked a train at 3 PM from Beijing to Xi’an. Lena not only made some adjustments to our schedule to fit as much as we could into our morning and afternoon, but she also rushed the restaurant staff to be sure we got our lunch in before leaving for the train station. Lena had us take leftover food for a snack on the train. At the train station, Mr. Li and Lena helped us further by carrying our luggage to the waiting gate. They made sure we got to the right place in the train station where those who hold passports are supposed to be. In fact, Lena came all the way down and onto the train and got us to our seats so that we had no worries in a strange and new station. We had a wonderful experience with Catherine Lu Tours and would highly recommend this company to our friends and family!

5.00We had an amazing three day tour seeing the sights of Beijing, our tour guide Suzie was wonderful and able to happily answer any questions. She was also able to share plenty of historical information about Chinese history and culture. We had the pleasure of eating some delicious Chinese cuisine. The 3 day private tour was fantastic value, the private car was very comfortable and arrived promptly to take us to the next destination. Thoroughly recommend booking this tour with Catherine Lu tours 😃😃

5.00Our tour with Catherine Lu tours was excellent. Our tour guide Adam was amazing. He speaks English and as well as we do, he was very kind and took very good care of us. He is a History professor so his knowledge of China is absolutely amazing, he has a wealth of knowledge and has a great sense of humor. We are exceptionally happy with our tour and know that it would not have been nearly as good without Adam.
