We visit the less touristy hoods around the Jean-Market on our food tour. From a single mom-no-pop shop we learn about our Latino community and sit down at a Salvadoran neighbourhood joint where locals go. We learn about the different communities that make up the area and pop into Little Italy for an iconic bakery when open.
The Jean-Talon market is the largest of its kind in the country. We try goat cheeses that are so farm to table they remind us of that scene from Portlandia. We visit a spice den, point out other great vendors, try some of the best charcuteries in the province as well as a few surprises like a forager and more depending on the season! You’ll want to go back to the market after the tour.
In Little Italy we explore the streets and area, sip third wave joe and learn about our progressive coffee scene. We head to a bean to bar award winning chocolate “factory” that will showcase some of the best stuff Montréal has to offer, period.

Take this tour! Marie was the best guide! This tour exceeded our expectations. Marie knew so much about the area and shared its history. We tasted so much delicious food and it’s clear that this company supports local owners. Bring a bag so that you can return to the market after the tour to get items for a picnic!

Chris was knowledgeable/super personal. The walk wasn’t difficult. All the food selections were tasty and got to taste a few items because of the season. Very much enjoyed it If you are planning on buying at the market… bring a bag so you are prepared. Nice to see a different part of Montreal!

If you're a foodie visiting Montreal, the “Beyond the Market Food Tour” is a must! It’s a super fun and tasty way to explore a local market and various neighborhoods. Our guide, Jeff, was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly loved sharing stories about the city’s history and food culture. We got to try a great mix of local treats—think Quebec cheeses, fresh-baked goods, maple products, and even a few surprises I won’t spoil. Everything was delicious and thoughtfully chosen. It didn’t feel rushed, and we learned a lot about the people behind the food. It’s a perfect mix of eating, walking, and learning. I left full, happy, and with a deeper appreciation for Montreal’s food scene. Highly recommend!

Brilliant knowledgeable guide, visited areas we would have never ventured to Every tasting was great, like they support small, some female run businesses
