Join us as we explore the largest indoor market in Hungary, gather fresh ingredients, and then head over to our nearby apartment for a hands-on cooking session and cultural immersion.
We'll start by meeting up at the iconic Central Market Hall of Budapest. From there, we'll take a short walk around the market, chatting about Hungarian history, cuisine, and culture while tasting some of the flavorus of Hungary!
After the Market, we head over to our apartment, where a selection of mouth-watering snacks, like sausages, salamis, dips, and cheeses waiting for us before we get to it!
Then, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get cooking!

[GLUTEN FREE, VEGAN, VEGETARIAN Options Available] What makes the Foodapest Cooking Class unique is that it blends culture, flavors, connection, and history into one experience. Unlike a standard cooking class during the morning classes, we begin with a guided market tour at the iconic Central Market Hall, where guests taste local specialties from real Hungarian producers. From there, we bring those fresh, seasonal ingredients to our cozy Budapest-style venue and learn how to prepare traditional Hungarian dishes, based on real family recipes. Along the way, guests connect with the city, the food, and each other: discovering not just how Hungarian cuisine tastes, but how it’s shaped by tradition, stories, and everyday life in Budapest. It’s not just a cooking class, it’s a cultural experience served family-style.

It was a homey experience for our couple and another mother-daughter pair. The teacher's English was very fluent and easy to understand; she explained not only the cooking but also Hungary's geography and history. I don't understand English very well, but I could grasp the main points. Especially regarding the cooking process, English wasn't necessary. It started at 1 PM and ended after 5 PM, but it felt like it flew by.

We had such a lovely afternoon with Kinga. We made Chicken Parikash. We enjoyed plenty of locally produced wines and meats before we enjoyed the food for a late lunch. Would definitely recommend.

I was taught Hungarian home cooking carefully. It was easy to ask questions in small groups and I really enjoyed interacting with other participants. Don't worry if you're new to cooking. It is rather full as it includes wine and snacks. This is a rare opportunity to learn about Hungary's diet, geography and more from a local guide. I recommend it.

Had the loveliest afternoon with Birdie on Foodapest's market tour, food tasting and cookery class. Lots of tips on products to buy, Hungarian wines. Tried lots of pickles, cheeses, salamis as well as some wonderful local wines. We made chicken paprika and nokedli, just loveliest. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Birdie and her tour, and would definitely do it again. Thanks for a lovely time.

We had a very good experience with Foodapest. The food and wine we tasted was very nice and our guide, Ben, was such a nice guy and we learnt a lot about hungarian culture and food from him. We definitely recommend this experience if you want to learn about the hungarian food and culture. - Rasmus & Sofia

Birdie was an incredible host. This experience felt like hanging out with a friend. The food was delicious and she kept the wine flowing. One of the best cooking classes we’ve ever attended.
