[GLUTEN FREE, VEGAN, VEGETARIAN Options Available] What makes the Foodapest Cooking Class unique is that it blends culture, flavors, connection, and history into one experience. Unlike a standard cooking class during the morning classes, we begin with a guided market tour at the iconic Central Market Hall, where guests taste local specialties from real Hungarian producers. From there, we bring those fresh, seasonal ingredients to our cozy Budapest-style venue and learn how to prepare traditional Hungarian dishes, based on real family recipes. Along the way, guests connect with the city, the food, and each other: discovering not just how Hungarian cuisine tastes, but how it’s shaped by tradition, stories, and everyday life in Budapest. It’s not just a cooking class, it’s a cultural experience served family-style.

Fantastic experience, I would highly recommend. Birdie and Nicki were fantastic. Very professional and I learnt a lot about Hungarian food and cooking as well as lots about Hungary through general chats. Food and wine were delicious, and the company was great.

We really enjoyed our Market tour and cooking class with Emma!! Emma did a great job…she shared information about the Market, Hungarian wines and customs, and taught our group how to make chicken paprikash…it was delicious!! It was a very enjoyable way to spend time in Budapest…the rest of our group were great (there were 9 people total…perfect group size). We tried pickled vegetables, meets and cheeses, paprikas, wines, and had a beautiful meal together. A wonderful time!!

We a really enjoyed our cooking class with Emma. She is knowledgeable about Hungarian history, culture and food. We made chicken paprikash from scratch and it was excellent. The recipe was fairly simple so it increases the likelihood we will make this at home. We had a market tour at the Central Market Hall then a short walk to the apartment for the cooking. During the class we got great explanations and everyone was able to participate. Emma is very personable and is a good teacher and communicators. The pace was good and we were never rushed. Overall a great experience that we would highly recommend.

This class was one of the best we have ever enjoyed. Emma and Kings were wonderful and skilled. They gave a tour of Central Market that was fun and informative. When we began the class it was very hands on and great pointers to create the perfect chicken paprikas. The wine and fellow participants added to the fun and the chicken and spaetzle was delicious Don’t miss this class! To learn about Hungarian cooking.

We had a wonderful time cooking with Kinga. She was super knowledgeable about all things Hungary and the dishes we prepared and the time we spent together flew by. The food we made was delicious and the snacks and wine provided while we cooked were a very much appreciated touch. One thing to note - if you book the 4:30 class, you don't get the market tour as part of the experience as it will have closed by then. I wish we'd known that ahead of time, but otherwise I highly recommend!

Had a wonderful time doing this cooking class. Met Birdie at the designated meeting point, then went shopping for our ingredients in the market hall. Birdie gave us some information about Hungary and its cuisine and was very entertaining! Proceeded on to the apartment where the cooking began. We had one other couple with us, we all took part in chopping up the ingredients and then took turns with other steps. Enjoyed snacks, wine, great conversions and laughs while lunch was cooking. Birdie and Emma, the other guide were fabulous, so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our day and the food (chicken paprikash) was fantastic!

Worth doing if you have spare time when visiting Budapest. Would be happy to skip the market and go straight to the cookery part

Leaning into the food and drink habits of a country is the best way to get into the culture (in my opinion). This trip started with fascinating trip around the grand market, learning about the special ingredients that Hungarians actually use in their homes, unusual animals (hairy pig), favourites spices and ingredients (pickles, paprika) and then off to cook! But not before a welcome drink, some local wines and chef that got us all to work! Good comraderie, great teacher with lots of tips and then a sit down meal! Lovely!
