This was a small group tour—1 van, 7 people—perfect size. Chris, our guide, was knowledgeable, funny, and friendly. It was a super hot day so at one point he filled the van with ice cold waters which was a great gesture. He absolutely made the trip enjoyable and was very accommodating. #1 First stop: Amarante – Viator lists it as a coffee break, but it's really free time to explore and grab coffee (not included). Charming little town. #2 Sandeman Winery – Large estate with beautiful views and rich history. Winery guide (not Chris) had broken English and struggled with questions but followed up. Port was very sweet and tiny pours; overall worth it for the setting. #3 Lunch at a local restaurant – Would’ve loved for Chris to join lunch and share more about the food—if it’s company policy, it’s worth reconsidering. The family-style meal was authentic and delicious, with a pescatarian option for myself. White/Red wine offered family style, which was a great addition. #4 Boat ride – This is why I gave the tour a 4. There were no instructions or commentary during the ride—our supposed boat guide just chatted with the driver. Chris spoke with them after, but it felt like a missed opportunity to learn. It was also very hot, and a cold drink (wine or water) would’ve made a big difference—especially on a tour of over $140+ #5 Small Winery + Olive Oil – Our final stop was a family-owned winery and olive oil producer, showcasing traditional methods. The wines were much better here, though the tasting felt a bit rushed as the host focused more on the group before us. Small pours, and it would've been nice to enjoy a glass during the tour. Fun to see how olive oil was made and to sample it too.
