Luggage Allowance: You're restricted to 14kg (31lbs) of luggage per person on our tours. This should be one piece of luggage similar to an airline carry-on bag (approximately 55cm x 45cm x 25cm / 22in x 17in x 10in) plus a small bag for onboard personal items.

This tour will depart from inside the Edinburgh Bus Station, Gate J and Gate K, St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, EH1 3DQ.
For your optional Jedburgh Abbey tickets you must reserve your time slot in advance. Please use the link printed on your voucher.
Vindolanda Roman Fort and Museum admission. Tour will visit Homesteads Roman Fort should Vindolanda be closed.
Due to safety inspection and possible maintenance work, Jedburgh Abbey is closed until further notice.
In order to retain the integrity of the tour and try to ensure that all our customers have the best possible experience, we do cap bookings from any one party to 8 passengers.
* Please note that Vindolanda is closed yearly during the month of January and part of February. Instead, we take you to Housesteads Roman Fort during this period.

Continuing south we make a stop at the scenic Carter Bar on the edge of the Cheviot Hills. This crossing point between Scotland and England runs close to the ancient Roman road and has formed the border between the two countries for the past 700 years.

5.00There is a fair bit of driving, but it is well worth it! We drove from Edinburgh down into Northumberland, England to see amazing landscapes and Roman ruins. We drove along a good stretch of Hadrians wall, and enjoyed several opportunities to get out and hike.

5.00The Hadrien wall tour is done in small groups (16). Unique views of the wall and fortifications and more (early abbayes and churches). Our driver (Alex) was passionate and casting.

3.00Unfortunately this only an average tour with nothing outstanding to speak of. The tour operator and driver/guide were outstanding and I give them a 5-star score, but the destinations were unimpressive. The tour title and description highlight Hadrian's Wall as the main attraction, with a mention of Vindolanda (an archaeological site dating back almost 2,000 years). Hadrian's Wall is exactly that: a rock wall that spans about 80 miles from east to west. After seeing the first 20 ft of the wall, the rest looks the same and not much else to see. The archaeological site of Vindolanda is much more interesting and includes a guide of the site. In my opinion, Vindolanda should be the main destination and Hadrian's wall only a stop-over. But all in all, it is a very long day and a long drive to see something that can be seen as a road stop on your way somewhere else.

5.00Ally was an amazing guide! He had heaps of knowledge and gave us information nearly the whole tour (it was impressive!). Hadrian's Wall and the Roman fort were very neat to see. Do it with Rabbie's and do it properly!

5.00This should be on every tourists itinerary when visiting Scotland. It is a small group which makes it feel more tailored and focussed and you are ferried around for the day on a small, but luxurious bus. You visit historically significant towns like Jedburgh, the border between Scotland and England, Vindolanda (amazing archeological site with walking tour available and recommended) and of course, Hadrians Wall. Our tour guide Alex was fantastic and made the day even more memorable. He not only drove the whole way but provided a well informed and detailed commentary, plus he was just a really nice person. A highly recommended tour.
