We will visit this small market, popular with the local people of Oaxaca, to charge our body and be ready to do our hike in the mountain, in this market we will find various options for breakfast, between fresh fruit juices and seasonal fruits, as well as tamales of beans, mole, dulce or pumpkin flower, quesadillas and delicious memelitas. Fresh fruit waters or smoothies we can also find here!
Here we will do our hiking! In the forests of the Sierra Norte de Oaxaca, temperate ecosystems of great ecological importance that are home to pine and oak forests, mesophilic cloud forests. This region is famous for its unique biodiversity, high concentration of endemic species of flora and fauna, such as the multicolored hummingbird, and spectacular landscapes characterized by the presence of fog and epiphytes. Local communities have preserved these forests for centuries, and today they are a key destination for ecotourism and adventure tourism in Mexico. Guided by a local guide, we will make an easy and beautiful 3-hour hike into the most beautiful forests of Mexico, considered among the most diverse in the world with lush vegetation, gazebos and beautiful panoramic views of the Oaxaca Valley.

5.00We absolutely loved our experience Hiking with Daniel. From the moment we first booked, we got a very positive feeling from our interactions with him. He was such a great communicator, very friendly, incredibly helpful and a great conversationalist. He was very knowledgable about the area. He was also very caring when my partner was struggling a little bit on the hike. If you’re looking for a wonderful half-day experience, I cannot recommend him highly enough. We were also very lucky and that the weather was fabulous and we got clear views of the mountains, all around us when we got to the top. It was also really fun when Daniel made the cowboy coffee - or that’s what I like to call campfire coffee! Be sure to pack a jacket because the mountains can get cool.

5.00Daniel is a great guide, and the tour is excellent in every way. Took us to a lovely market experience with tasty food, he is a very good driver, mellow, professional tour operator of high integrity. He taught me how to listen for hummingbirds, told some wonderful stories, showed us cool plants and flowers, and was so kind, generous and passionate about the precious nature in Oaxaca. Peaceful high elevation trails; views were to die for! I’d been dreaming of getting away from town and up into the mountains for years on previous visits, and felt like I hit the jackpot! Highly recommended. Unforgettable experience! A real highlight!

5.00My cousin and I booked a hike and Daniel was our guide. He took us to a local market first for breakfast and I had the best tamales ever! The hike itself was wonderful. There were no others on the trail which was nice. Daniel was a great guide. He taught us many things about Oaxaca, the mountains, etc. The hardest part of the hike was the last 20-30 mins of the ascent… difficult primarily because of the altitude. Otherwise, we were met with amazing views and hot coffee/tea to warm up. The descent was easy. We saw many cows, mushrooms, local plants, an hummingbirds. Highly recommend this hike. A great way to start our trip in Oaxaca.

5.00Our group had a wonderful hike in Sierra Norte with Danial, our guide. The hike was beautiful! The forest was extremely green as we were at the end of the rainy season, and we saw mushrooms, hummingbirds, a frog, and even a tiny snake! At the mountain lookout point the views were spectacular, and we all enjoyed camping coffee to celebrate our successful climb. What a wonderful way to spend half a day in Oaxaca, especially if the chaos of the city is driving you a little crazy.

5.00A fantastic day hike in the Sierra Norte mountains! Daniel our guide was very friendly and could communicate in both English and Spanish with ease. Our hike wasn't too strenuous, although the incline at the end of the first half did give us a workout! The forests, mountains, and views were wonderful. Just the thing to set you right if you are looking to escape the chaos of Oaxaca.

5.00Spent a great day hiking through the amazingly biodiverse and beautiful Sierra Norte with Daniel as our gracious guide. The drive alone has breathtaking 360 views of the surrounding mountains. We learned a great deal about the area and people who live there. The mirador has a great view of the Oaxaca valley. A definite highlight of our trip to Oaxaca. Don't miss out on this amazing experience.

5.00My friends and I had a great time hiking the Sierra Norte with Daniel. I had already been on a bike tour with Daniel and I contacted him about doing hiking options near Oaxaca. This conversation turned into a wonderful afternoon that Daniel was able to customize for our group of 4. He picked us up, we went to a local market for breakfast, then off the the Sierra Norte mountains. It was a lovely hike and Daniel was knowledgeable and personable. It was exactly what we were hoping for an would recommend it 100%. Daniel is a great guide and I'm sure he could be flexible (within reason) if someone had specific needs on the hike. If I'm ever back in Oaxaca, I will be sure to look up Daniel and take another hike!

5.00I had a wonderful experience hiking in the Sierra Norte, just outside Oaxaca. Our guide, Daniel, made the day really special. He first took us to a local market where we could enjoy a traditional breakfast, and later in the forest he even brewed fresh coffee for us at a lookout point with views over the forest. The forest felt moist, misty, and full of life, almost mystical in atmosphere. I loved exploring the trails and just taking in the peaceful nature all around us. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to see a different, quieter side of Oaxaca and connect with nature. Thank you, Daniel, for a memorable day.
