Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban

The town of Teotitlán del Valle is located 30 kilometers from the city of Oaxaca and its meaning is "place of the gods", in the Nahuatl league. It is famous thanks to the quality and beauty of its wool textile products: rugs, jackets, bags, sarapes, tapestries, "corridors", carpeting, curtains and dresses, made on large wooden looms and decorated with natural dyes, whose designs go from the traditional Zapotec and Mixtec frets and griffins, to reproductions of contemporary painters. The elaboration of its textile is 100% handmade from the washing of the wool obtained from the sheep in the river, the carding of the wool, the elaboration of the thread through the spinning wheel, the use of natural dyes based on insects and variety of plants, until completion on their pedal looms.

This was an amazing one day tour that was well organized. Out guide, Irvin was wonderful and very flexible to meet our needs. Overall this was the best tour we’ve ever experienced.

This was flexible, do as much exercise or as little as you like! I would drop the Mescal part, but it was interesting and artisanal. Monte Alban is fantastic, Hierve is fantastic, and love weaving visit. The best was going to the giant Cypress in Tule!

Wonderful way to see many treasures of Oaxaca culture. Because of the amount of sites, Jesus helped us coordinate and arrange our visits. Our drivers were always on time and full of interesting facts about Oaxaca history, things to do and places to try. The local guides at Monte Alban, Hierve el Agua and Mitla were phenomenal, especially Leonel and Janel. Leonel helped us keep a healthy pace at Hierve el Agua, showing us all the flora and geological phenomena around us, while avoiding getting exhausted with the climb. The visits to black clay, alebrijes and telares shops were fascinating, personal and enticing, everyone explaining in detail their family crafts, without pushing only for a sale. An incredible experience all around!

My friend and I did this tour in June. The weather was absolutely perfect! Our driver/guide Daniel was amazing! He was very informative, introduced us to each guide as we arrived at each destination and was waiting to take us to our next stop when we finished each tour. Every guide was professional and knowledgeable. This is a perfect tour for photography, learning the rich culture of Oaxaca, and seeing some incredible sights! You will not be disappointed. Thank you Daniel for a lovely day.

Everything was great! We only had a few days in Oaxaca and this tour was a good way to see several sites in one day. Our tour guide was great! I wish we would of skipped the textile part and spent more time at Hierve El Agua but over all we were very happy with our choice to pick this company! Recommend it for sure.
