The visitor center in National Park is currently closed for renovation.

Easy tour - Involves walking over relatively level terrain, possible gravel or uneven ground in some areas. Lava tube is .4 of mile long with descending and ascending steps. Comfortable walking shoes & light jacket recommended
WHEELCHAIR / WALKER or SCOOTER ? We must know prior to the tour date if you are bringing a mobility device in order to accommodate. (Please add note to comments box) The mobility unit must not exceed 45 lbs. For various reasons our guides cannot assist with mobility units. Guests must have someone with them to move the mobility device in and out of the vehicle. Our vehicles do not have a lift, so any mobility device must be collapsible to fit through the mini bus doors which is 32” wide.
Mobility Restrictions: Mobility devices cannot go into the lava tube, a trail to the crater is dirt path. Trail to black sand beach in ok but the beach is sand. Customers can stay in the vehicle at any time if they wish. Call us if you have further questions.

Banyan Drive
Our first path drives us down Banyan Drive known as the "Hilo Walk of Fame" for the banyan trees planted by celebrities, such as Babe Ruth and Franklin Roosevelt and many others. These trees have withstood several tsunamis that have devastated the town of Hilo
Lili'uokalani Gardens
This is the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan donated by Queen Liliʻuokalani in 1917. Throughout the gardens are stone lanterns, gazebos, and torii gates, recalling the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii.

5.00Our tour guide Donna was very knowledgeable, cheerful and made the tour a really memorable experience for all of us! Although we missed the volcano eruption, it was still awesome looking at the steam coming from the volcano and the steam vents! It was also amazing walking through the Lava tube. The Rainbow falls was also beautiful! We really learned a lot from the tour!

3.00Generally good overarching little tour of Hilo sights, including a black sand beach (Richardson’s) where we saw a green sea turtle, Rainbow Falls, macadamia nut farm (Mauna Loa specifically with lunch here), Volcanoes National Park, and the lava tube. A better lunch stop (with an actual vegetarian option - not a sad salad - and/or Hawaiian food) / not including the macadamia farm would I think have provided a better tour, as well as perhaps different stops at the National Park and/or more time actually at the park. Our guide, though nice, was not the most knowledgeable, providing little information on what we were actually seeing / visiting and more general info on Hawaii. The mini bus provided strange seating (2 seats on one side, 1 on the other, with 5 across in the back), so my travel companion and I were separated and uncomfortable (him in the back middle). Overall, not unhappy with the tour because we went to Volcanoes, the lava tube was really cool, and the black sand beach had a great turtle viewing opportunity, but would recommend some changes.

5.00This tour had all the major highlights of Hilo. Our family of 4 were on NCL’s Pride of America and this tour was right at the cruise terminal even though it was not sponsored through the cruise ship. We started going to a black sand beach that was beautiful. We then headed to Rainbow falls which had spectacular views as well. Then on to Volcano National Park to view the calderas of Mauna Loa and Kīlauea followed by steam vents. The finale was the Thurston Lava Tube which was my favorite to end the tour. We had a tsunami watch as we headed into the lava tube and when we exited it was a full blown warning. Our tour guide, Alohalani, is to be commended for getting us back to our ship as fast as she could risking her own safety. We are so grateful to her and wish to thank her for her dedication to Big Island C tours and to her tourists as well. She truly has a love of Hawaii as a native Hawaiian with an incredible knowledge of the islands.
