Nara National Museum
The Nara National Museum Nara Kokuritsu Hakubutsukan), located in Nara Park, is an art museum which primarily displays Japanese Buddhist art. Established in 1889, the museum retains its original building and is joined by a new wing that is connected to the original building by an underground passage. Both wings display the museum's permanent collection, which includes Buddhist statues, paintings, scrolls and ceremonial objects mainly from Japan. The new wing also houses temporary exhibitions, including an annual exhibition every autumn of treasures from Todaiji Temple. A ticket to the museum gives access to both wings, and English explanations are available throughout the museum.
Nara Park
Nara Park is a beautiful place where Japan's history and nature blend seamlessly, attracting many tourists. Spanning approximately 660 hectares, the park is home to around 1,200 freely roaming deer, which visitors can feed with special deer crackers. The park features numerous historical buildings, such as the Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji Temple, the five-story pagoda of Kofuku-ji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine, offering a wealth of sights to explore. Additionally, the park's seasonal natural beauty is captivating, with cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn leaves being particularly popular. Nara Park is a unique place where history and nature harmonize, allowing visitors to fully enjoy Japan's traditional culture and beautiful landscapes. Be sure to visit and experience its charm for yourself.

It's a good experience to get to Nara from Kyoto while catching some sights. Mani was a great guide and kindly got us water because of the extreme heat.

They never showed up and when I contacted Viator it took over 50 min to get anywhere with customer service. Viator has placed a refund request which they state they need to get confirmation by the tour company which they themselves were unable to reach. This was a terrible experience by the tour operators and Viator and I am just hoping I am able to get a full refund of my $532. If not I will never use either service again.

Our tour was supposed to start at 8. I got a txt at 7 to cancel our tour. We only had one day in osaka and it was completely ruined because of their lack of consideration to let us know sooner.

I travelled with my wife and my two boys, age 5 and 2. I had a superb experience! Basra the tour guide was knowledgeable, punctual and very friendly - my kids and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with him. Make sure to ask him for great spots to take photos. I highly recommend this experience! Some notes (Things I Wished I Knew Earlier): - The itinerary provided on this page are options, you will not be visiting every single place. The trip I took was a 1 day visit from Osaka to both Kyoto and Nara and there isn't enough time to visit all the places or spend a meaningful amount of time at each spot. In my 1 day trip we visited the Bamboo Forest, Gion District, Fushi Inari Temple in Kyoto and then Nara Park. - In visiting both Kyoto and Nara from Osaka, a lot of time is spent in the vehicle. It takes ~1.5 hours from Osaka to Kyoto and an another ~1 hour from Kyoto to Nara. - Bring cash. A few of the smaller stalls at the tourist attractions are cash only.

Great family day out with Basraa! He was flexible with our itinerary and time, so we could enjoy the day with our children. He came back after the tour to return an item we’d left behind. Thanks for a great experience!
