Originally named the ‘Great Rift Valley’ by British Explorer John Walter Gregory, the Rift Valley is a geographic stretch extending 6000km across the Middle East and Africa from Jordan to Mozambique. The valley encapsulates tremendous changes in topographic diversity with its scarps and volcanoes, lakes, ancient granitic hills, flat desert landscapes and coral reefs and islets. The astounding view, as you approach from Nairobi, Kenya is quite unbelievable. To show you just how expansive the rift is, the ground unexpectedly disappears from under you, extending thousands of kilometers in either direction. An excellent starter to the Kenyan Rift Valley, it may appear, the most amazing part of this experience is sinking deeper to explore the Lake System of the Rift.

Rustic Nature and Kelvin pulled off the impossible. I am a solo, independent, non conforming traveler who can go from luxury to budget in the same trip. I contacted Rustic Nature to hire a driver to take me to one of the Sheldrick Trusts EcoLodges in Umani Springs for two nights and ended up booking 5 additional safari nights. I wanted a luxury experience for a few days and an authentic experience for the safari portion and got both….Kelvin NAILED IT. He understood what I wanted and delivered. As for the actual safaris/game drives, Kelvin’s love of his job, his home and The Bush is very apparent. He worked exceptionally hard to give me the best possible experience and animal viewing. I don’t know who he was talking to on the two phones and two radios but we were always the first to arrive for a front row seat to all kinds of animal activity. The van, though not what I initially thought of when envisioning a safari, was the best possible vehicle for the amount of travel and terrain we covered. It was very comfortable, the roof comes off for great, stand up viewing and the ability to move around to get the best pictures. It even had a fridge/freezer which was great for a lovely lunch w/champagne in the middle of The Mara. I can’t think of a thing that would have made the days more perfect, except smooth roads…no getting around potholes. Kelvin listened to my wishes whereas other tour companies pushed outlandishly expensive tours or flat out told me, “we are probably not the right company for you”. If you are looking for a tailor made/custom tour, this is the company for you. Nobody works harder at giving you the best experience possible. 11 out of 10 stars!!

Rustic Nature Tours,is undoubtedly an excellent company to go on Safari with. I have just got back from ten days in Kenya with them and had an absolutely brilliant time, both Kelvin owner and Felix driver are both extremely well knowledged about the surroundings and wildlife and get you into the best position to photograph the birds or animals every time. They are two of the nicest people I have ever met. If you are thinking of going to Kenya on Safari then don't let this opportunity pass by as you will not find a better company to go with.Forget the rest go with the best.Wish I was still there.
