Arrival in Honfleur. Begin your walking tour of this charming town, known for its historic old harbor. Once the main defensive port of Normandy in the 15th century, Honfleur has since transformed into a picturesque resort town beloved by 19th-century artists. The town, first mentioned in 1027, has a rich history, changing hands during the Hundred Years' War and later becoming a hub for French corsairs who raided the English coast. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Honfleur thrived with trade from the American colonies. After the closure of the port, the town’s economy declined and it became a suburb of Le Havre.
