The weather in Juneau in August can be a bit of a mixed bag. Luckily for us we were staying five days so Peter and guide Matt went all out to make sure we got to Pack Creek to see the bears in the wild. Awesome encounter with two juveniles and a big Moma Beer. Arrived Juneau on Day 1 in the rain. Day 2 cancelled due to weather so we checked out the Museum. Day 3 we did the brewery tour. Lots of beers to see and taste - thanks Wild Coast and Katie B. A great addition to your Juneau business and great company. Day 4 - awesome day but fogged in so we delayed our flights and finally cracked it on Day 5 with a special early morning tour for the two of us. Travelling on a plane with our own name on the side was a nice touch. thanks Ward Airlines.

Very knowledgeable group that care about the bears' well being. Very responsive. Matt used to be a park ranger and has a ton of information.

I can't add much to the other reviews here. My husband and I had a similarly wonderful bear viewing trip. It was the last day of the spring viewing until later in the summer, and we saw 2 bears from the air, and 2 on the beach. We watched one digging for clams for ages. Matt was terrific - kind, friendly, very knowledgeable and passionate about the wilderness. The weather was warm and sunny, the flight was amazing, and our every need was taken care of. A memorable trip that was well worthwhile.

I'll start by saying that Matt was a great guide on this trip. His knowledge of the bears, Admiralty Island, the flora of Alaska, and the history of the island made this trip more than just a chance to see bears. he really taught us about the ecology of the island and Alaska and why we need these wild places. While we didn't see bears on this trip (I have seen them here in the past), the trip was still very worthwhile. The scenery viewed on the plane ride over and back is remarkable. I'd highly recommend this opportunity to spend time in a remote Alaskan wilderness.

This is the best thing to do in Alaska. Wild coast provides everything you need! Boots, waterproof pants, binoculars and a yummy lunch! Matt is so respectful of the wilderness and the bears, which is so important to me as an animal rights person. I won't go to zoos or anything that pretends to be a sanctuary. Matt was a National Parks Ranger, so he knows and cares about it! It's beautiful viewing and bear watching, along with deer and bald eagles! The plane ride is stellar viewing too! I just got back and I already want to go again.

My husband and I are huge fans of the Katmai Coastal Brown Bears, so when we learned we'd be in Juneau for a week, we immediately researched bear viewing opportunities nearby. We are so glad we booked with Wild Coast Excursions. Peter was a wonderful guide in every regard--knowledgeable, prepared, and really committed to ensuring we had a great experience. I read a number of internet comments saying a guide wasn't necessary for this trip, but I couldn't imagine doing this trip without Peter as our guide, not just from a bear safety standpoint, but also for provisioning. Wild Coast precured the necessary permits, booked the float plane through the most reliable and safest company in Juneau (Ward Air), and provided us with waterproof boots, rucksacks, and rubber pants, which were an absolute must due to the float plane landing. He also had bear spray and a satellite phone for contacting Ward Air. We learned a lot about the bears from him during our time on the island and were very excited to see these bears in person and from a safe but relatively short distance. We would absolutely book this trip again. Five stars!
