Below the streets of Paris lurks an entire secret history of the city’s dead. On this unique storytelling tour, you’ll visit the Paris Catacombs to see the remains of millions of Parisians and learn about the fascinating ways in which this ancient city has dealt with its dead. As you explore these eerie tunnels you also enjoy parts of the Catacombs usually closed to the public and facts and stories from an expert local guide.

Please note: This tour has a decreased group size of six people and a modified price on select days to allow for a more intimate experience.

Unfortunately due to the nature of this tour it is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments or with wheelchairs, or strollers.

Areas visited during this tour are subject to closure. Your guide may need to modify areas visited on the day of the tour.

The catacombs are subject to closures due to strikes. If time permits, we will reach out to you prior to your tour. For last-minute closures, cancellations may be communicated at the meeting point.

The Paris Catacombs

Once inside, your knowledgeable guide ushers you through the extensive subterranean network, created when Parisian leaders undertook the greatest civil engineering project of their time to address the overcrowding in their city's cemeteries. Tour the Catacombs' main tunnels to discover a city of dead beneath the City of Lights and then explore two special access tunnels.

    A one-of-a-kind experience to the depths of Paris. Fascinating history. Lou, our tour guide was fantastic. Tour went to an area the other areas weren’t allowed. A bit spooky, but the tour had our 14-year old son’s full attention. Would recommend this tour!

    We arrived as instructed, waiting with two other groups. Nobody ever showed up. We stood (our group and the two other) for an hour past the start time, an hour and a half past the meeting time, in the sun, trying to message, call, etc. Victor did not respond for more then ten minutes on their chat so I missed that the first time (how is that responsive), the Tour company did not respond until later that day. The thing is, there was a strike at the Catacombs that has been going on for a little while. They knew this, there were signs posted we saw later at the entrance to the Catacombs (not at the assigned meeting point), so why not contact us all that morning and tell us not to travel across the city? We lost half a day of vacation because of this. DO NOT use this company and shame on you Viator for not responding more quickly. Who waiting on a chat more than 10 minutes for a response when standing outside in a foreign country stressing about an issue like this? Unacceptable. First bad experience, but it was memorable in a bad way.
