Below the streets of Paris lurks an entire secret history of the city’s dead. On this unique storytelling tour, you’ll visit the Paris Catacombs to see the remains of millions of Parisians and learn about the fascinating ways in which this ancient city has dealt with its dead. As you explore these eerie tunnels you also enjoy parts of the Catacombs usually closed to the public and facts and stories from an expert local guide.

Please note: This tour has a decreased group size of six people and a modified price on select days to allow for a more intimate experience.

Unfortunately due to the nature of this tour it is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments or with wheelchairs, or strollers.

Areas visited during this tour are subject to closure. Your guide may need to modify areas visited on the day of the tour.

The catacombs are subject to closures due to strikes. If time permits, we will reach out to you prior to your tour. For last-minute closures, cancellations may be communicated at the meeting point.

The Paris Catacombs

Once inside, your knowledgeable guide ushers you through the extensive subterranean network, created when Parisian leaders undertook the greatest civil engineering project of their time to address the overcrowding in their city's cemeteries. Tour the Catacombs' main tunnels to discover a city of dead beneath the City of Lights and then explore two special access tunnels.

    Wow! What a great experience on two fronts: the history and the culture. Learned a great bit about the history of the catacombs and why they existed then and today. There is great cultural significance of the catacombs that you have to experience first hand by going and “seeing” with your own eyes. Yes it’s underground. Yes it’s dusty. Yes it’s a catacomb. But.. but.. it’s not too scary and can be walked by varied physical conditions.

    This tour was fantastic the guide was friendly and very knowledgeable getting to go in the parts not open to the public was great and I would have been disappointed to miss those sections . Definitely worth doing the tour . Thank you to our guide for the great tour.

    This was an excellent tour, and we loved our guide, Leo. She took us into many areas of the Catacombs that the general public are not allowed to see, which house incredible and surprising artwork; she pointed out details among the bones that I'm sure most people miss; and her passionate storytelling brought the whole place to life. I had mild interest in the Catacombs before the tour (it was on my husband's bucket list), but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.
