I am a professional chef and would be happy if I share everything with you about Hungarian cuisine.
I love cooking and eating great food. It is fantastic when my kitchen is full of life: somebody is chopping onions, someone else is preparing the meat or is kneading dough and we are talking, laughing and the smell of the food fills the whole place.
While you are in Budapest, come, cook together and enjoy this unique atmosphere in the centre.
This 100‹% hands-on cooking class gives you a memorable experience.

From the beginning to the end we make together a Hungarian 3-course menu (+ starter). We work together as a team and provide all of ingredients, pots and kitchen equipments. Everybody makes the same menu, so if you book the event the first, you can choose one menu from the following 3 menus. During the cooking you can taste the typical local ingredients and learn about Hungary, local food, customs and history. End of the cooking we eat together and you can enjoy the result of your efforts with a glass of Hungarian wine. We give you the recipes of the dishes, which you can take home. Menu options - please, choose only ONE: Menu A: Cold sour cherry soup, Chicken paprikas with dumplings, Gundel pancake Menu B: Goulash soup (beef meat), Savoury pancake Hortobagy style (chicken), Gerbeaud layered cake Menu C: Creamy potato soup with smoked sausage, Stuffed cabbage (pork meat), Poppy-seed bread dumplings + vanilla custard Minimum 4 participants are required for the class to run.

Gerbeaud layered cake
This is an iconic dessert is Hungary. It is a layered cake with ground walnuts, apricot jam and dark chocolate. Yummy!

5.00Marti was fabulous. She was engaging, friendly, knowledgeable and very personable. We made Hortabagy pancakes filled with chicken paprikash, goulash soup and Gerbeaud cake for dessert. There were 5 couples and everyone got an opportunity to participate in the preparation process. Highly recommend. It was fabulous learning to cook Hungarian recipes that I will recreate at home!!

5.00We can't speak highly enough of our experience at Flavors of Budapest! Marti is energetic, fun, and she's an excellent cooking instructor. She made sure all 4 of use got to work on preparing the meal, and she made the whole experience fun! We made sour cherry soup, chicken paprikash, and gundle pancakes (which are like crepes) filled with a delicious walnut filling. We had one person who couldn't eat nuts, and Marti accommodated our needs by substituting a delicious and homemade apricot jam. We learned a lot, we ate a lot, and mostly we had a lot of FUN! The price was affordable. We highly recommend Flavors of Budapest to anyone.

5.00Cooking with Marti was fantastic! She’s patient, skilled, encouraging, and funny. We learned so much!!! We learned to make a 3 course meal, that I feel confident I could try at home and she even sent us the recipes! She shared with us special soda, snacks, and palinka that she and her family made. It made us feel welcome and like we were special friends. Would definitely recommend!

5.00Such a WONDERFUL evening!! Marti provided a wealth of Hungarian cooking information in a comfortable setting with delicious bites. Her kitchen was the perfect place to gather, learn, and dine. And afterwards, she emailed us the recipes so we can continue to cook like a Hungarian chef at home. Highly recommended!

5.00Marti is a chef extraordinaire and wonderful guide through Hungarian gastronomy adding bits of cultural references along the way. She allowed us to take a hand at putting the dishes together while explaining why we used certain ingredients vs others that would change the flavor and texture. I'm not a very good cook and yet I had a great time!

5.00Marti is the best!!! This is by far our best cooking class experience ever! And Marti is a chef in profession too. She is very knowledgeable and articulate. She made our whole experience so much meaningful while having fun and making new friends. Our food turned our so delicious! Marti was great and precise in giving instructions and directions during the cooking class PLEASE DON’T MISS BOOKING A CLASS WITH MARTI WHEN YOU’RE IN BUDAPEST! She is phenomenal!
