Once you’ve selected a morning or afternoon class, meet your friendly instructor upon arrival at the cooking studio in Shanghai. Your private 2-hour lesson with a professional chef starts with an introduction to two of China’s most delectable dishes: xiaolongbao and pan-fried spring rolls. Discover easy cooking techniques during a quick demonstration, followed by hands-on experience with step-by-step instructions. As the teaching style places an emphasis on doing rather than watching, you’ll have plenty of time to practice new culinary skills. Employ traditional techniques in making these flour-based goodies as you knead and roll the handmade dough, stuff pan-fried Chinese spring rolls and prepare a classic soup for xiaolongbao. You’ll create pidong (broth) and a savory filling, using flavorful and nutritious ingredients like minced pork, soy sauce, green onion and ginger to fill the dumpling wrapper. Once you’ve — almost — perfected the art of creating gourmet fillings for these tasty treats, sit down to enjoy your dim sum and hear the stories behind some of Shanghai’s most prized and popular dishes.

This class was really fun to do and we really learned how to make dumplings and spring rolls that we can re-create at home. The staff is warm and friendly and we laughed alot. One of the highlights of our trip.
