Kyoto keeps traditional arts and beauty alive, but the busses and subways can be confusing and provide challenges for those with walking limitations. At Japan Guide Agency, we want everyone to experience Kyoto so we are happy to provide this customizable, private guided tour with a vehicle!
Join us on a tour of Kyoto to see Kiyomizu Temple as it towers over the historical Gion district, famous for its rich history of geisha. The bamboo forest of Sagano and the gardens, shrines and temples in Kyoto will provide you with a window into old Japan.
Once your reservation is made, a guide will contact you to plan your personalized tour. Choose 4 to 5 spots from ‘Tour Details’ to visit. Whether you are a history buff, love Japanese architecture, or just want to enjoy a green tea parfait, Kyoto has something for you!

Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
You can see Japan's background that is off-limits to ordinary tourists after the tour. This short trip is a fantastic and great value way of experiencing Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine! We are here to help you discover new things, the Fushimi Inari Shrine is so more than its famous tunnels of vermillion-red torii gates. Most people are satisfied by a scenic view of it. But this has a lot of stories to tell that will connect you to the Japan's history and culture and your guide will show you deeper. You will see a fascinating story attached to the origin of the shrine dedicated to the god of grains – that’s what “Inari” means – . This is also why you’ll see statues of the fox around the shrine. “Kitsune” or the fox is a servant to the god Inari. They are cunning tricksters, clever minded animals who make perfect guides for the treacherous business world. You may would want the foxes on your side after this tour.
Nijo Castle
Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site was built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Period (1603-1867).

5.00Our guide Harumi did a wonderful job in accommodating our limited schedule and adding information to enhance our experience and cultural understanding. Our driver was also great and provided charm and additional information when we visited a site in his hometown. Harumi's pre-trip communication was great. I provided her with sites I wanted to visit and she developed a schedule to make it work. And she was able help me schedule her for additional hours after our tour to act as an interpreter for a dinner we had planned with Maiko. We very much enjoyed her company and assistance. The tour operator did not have the large bus available for our group but since we were only 5 people, they provided a very nice mini van and credit us back some money. She was an official accredited tour guide. I was a bit concerned about organizing our visit this way but it all turned out great. I had asked our hotel to help me organize and the prices were absurd (very fancy hotel). Now our tour was not inexpensive but it was reasonable to me for a private tour. Very glad we did it.

3.00Unfortunately, we had a pretty rough tour experience overall. Our guide who seemed very sweet didn’t have a loud enough voice for anyone to hear and the teen boys lost interest very quickly. I also think the tour location order could have been adapted better to minimize crowds at certain spots - ie, Inari Shrine and could have been better curated to our party. We were hoping for a better tour and overall day in Kyoto but it was unfortunately not what we expected :(

5.00I can't rate this tour and Yoshii-san high enough! Unlike many tours, we were able to completely customize what we saw during this special day, and even add in some non touristy stops....a bit of bonus shopping and eating local style ramen. On top of it all, Yoshii-san shared so much history with us and was so accommodating in taking family photos for us.

5.00Our tour guide, Michi, was wonderful and informative. We designed our tour with the places we wanted to see. It was a hot day in Kyoto and it was quite helpful to be transported in an air conditioned van.
