Kyoto keeps traditional arts and beauty alive, but the busses and subways can be confusing and provide challenges for those with walking limitations. At Japan Guide Agency, we want everyone to experience Kyoto so we are happy to provide this customizable, private guided tour with a vehicle!
Join us on a tour of Kyoto to see Kiyomizu Temple as it towers over the historical Gion district, famous for its rich history of geisha. The bamboo forest of Sagano and the gardens, shrines and temples in Kyoto will provide you with a window into old Japan.
Once your reservation is made, a guide will contact you to plan your personalized tour. Choose 4 to 5 spots from ‘Tour Details’ to visit. Whether you are a history buff, love Japanese architecture, or just want to enjoy a green tea parfait, Kyoto has something for you!

Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
You can see Japan's background that is off-limits to ordinary tourists after the tour. This short trip is a fantastic and great value way of experiencing Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine! We are here to help you discover new things, the Fushimi Inari Shrine is so more than its famous tunnels of vermillion-red torii gates. Most people are satisfied by a scenic view of it. But this has a lot of stories to tell that will connect you to the Japan's history and culture and your guide will show you deeper. You will see a fascinating story attached to the origin of the shrine dedicated to the god of grains – that’s what “Inari” means – . This is also why you’ll see statues of the fox around the shrine. “Kitsune” or the fox is a servant to the god Inari. They are cunning tricksters, clever minded animals who make perfect guides for the treacherous business world. You may would want the foxes on your side after this tour.
Nijo Castle
Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site was built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Period (1603-1867).

3.00Expensive for what we got out of it. Guide was pleasant but uninspiring and not a great storyteller. Helpful to be driven to the sights but wouldn’t do it again.

5.00Very Very Good PRIVATE 7hr Kyoto Tour (Guide+Driver Car) with YUKA our Licensed Tour Guide and Mr MARUNO our driver. JAPAN GUIDE AGENCY is the tour company. Highly Recommend this Tour. 5 Star ⭐️ service A+++ Rating ***OVERALL: we did everything we wanted to do on our itinerary for this 6-7hr private tour with licensed guide and private driver in minivan. We were able to visit FUSHIMI INARI TAISHA TEMPLE (Fox temple w/many Torii Gates); KIYOMIZU-DERA TEMPLE (Main Hall Hondo & famous Terrace); walked Main Street in Kyoto KYOTOGYOEN near KYOTO IMPERIAL PALACE; quickly walked through HIGASHIYAMA (walked down steps that granted good health if didn’t fall down them, took pic of Hōkan-Ji Temple; saw KINKAKUJI (Golden Pavillion) so beautiful; ARASHIYAMA BAMBOO FOREST so wonderful to see; finally OTAGI NENBUT-SUJI Temple - hand carved Rakan stone statutes disciples of Buddha. We weren’t able to go to NIJO Castle because it was closed for the holidays. Overall, excellent service provided. ***LICENSED TOUR GUIDE: YUKA our tour guide was excellent. Her English was very good, gave us lots of history of the places we visited. Regaled us with interesting facts and guided us through the streets of Kyoto with great expertise saving us lots of time to be able to do all that we wanted to do in the time we had. She found attractions she thought we were interested in beyond our itinerary and guided us to streets that were not as crowded. We managed to see more sights than other tourists on a day trip because of her guiding us. She answered all our questions promptly and with great knowledge BEFORE our tour and DURING our tour. Loved that she wore pink cap and striped pink jacket so we could find her in the crowded streets. Thank you for an absolutely unforgettable tour. ***PRIVATE DRIVER & CAR/VAN - Mr MARUNO was masterful in driving us to all the locations we visited. He was not only a conscientious and careful driver but also a master of the shortcuts and backroads to drop us off and pick us up so we didn’t have to walk uphill or double back to be picked up at the end of seeing any particular sight. Even the tour guide had not known of the secret back roads or hidden parking spots he was able to secure. Wow we were so appreciative not having to walk uphill to get back to the car. He was accommodating, flexible and so considerate. He’s a master class driver. Thank you. The car/minivan was impeccably clean, spacious and comfortable. ***Overall a fantastic private tour of Kyoto hitting 5-6 must-see tourist sights that we were only able to do (during the busiest Japanese holiday season) using Japan Agency Guide with YUKA (licensed tour guide) and Mr MURANO (private driver)

5.00We had a fabulous day with Olive as our guide. She went out of her way to make sure we saw the sightsee wanted to see and gave us very good commentary along the way. We asked for a traditional Japanese lunch and she took us to a beautiful restaurant-just what we wanted. Given we only had one full day in Kyoto this was an excellent way to see all the sights with a guide and driver. Otherwise what we saw would have taken much more time and not been as insightful.

5.00We very much enjoyed our tour with Maya. She was very responsive to emails and planning the itinerary before the day. So much knowledge of each shrine, the history, religion, culture and building types. She even took us to some great spots for food and helped with purchasing local spices. Very warm and friendly the whole day and took very good photos of us. Our driver was also very friendly, helpful with a well presented car. Driving saved a lot of time and energy making our way around Kyoto. Would definitely recommend this tour.

5.00Loved it! Although it was summer and very rainy and humid we really packed it all in. You see all of the important historic temples with the ease of not having to worry about transportation.

1.00This experience fell short of our expectations. Our tour guide did not appear interested in our preferences at all and the itinerary felt cobbled together. We have used Viator for our entire trip to Japan, all were the best except this one.

5.00Our guide Yoshi and driver were very accommodating. During the tour they suggested different sights and adjusted our itinerary. Yoshi was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the shrines, temples, and castles we visited. He also helped plan our itinerary for the next couple of days in Kyoto.

5.00Michi was fantastic. Customized trip for us. Was so knowledge, kind, funny, stayed past tour ending to join us for lunch and help find a particular kind of food we wanted to try. Driver was also wonderful and car super comfortable. Highly recommend.
