Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
The Fushimi Inari Shrine is famous for tunnels of vermillion-red torii gates. This shrine has a lot of stories to tell that will connect you to the Japan's history and culture and your guide will show you deeper. You will see a fascinating story attached to the origin of the shrine dedicated to the god of grains. You’ll see statues of the fox around the shrine. “Kitsune” or the fox is a servant to the god Inari. You may would want the foxes on your side after this tour.

5.00Prior to our meet up, there was good communication and our guide took the time to learn what we wanted from the experience. The day of our tour we were warmly greeted and picked up at our hotel. We had an amazing time seeing the city and our guide was a wealth of knowledge. Importantly, I had my toddler (who can be a handful sometimes) participate in the tour and our guide was nothing less than accommodating, patient and made sure he had just as much fun as the adults! Would highly recommend for families or individuals.

5.00We had a phenomenal time with Hiroko Kosaki. She had a wealth of information for each place we went and ensured we hit the highlights of Kyoto in an efficient way. She had amazing energy and was a joy to spend the day with. She kept up with our busy boys 10/13 and still engaged them and us adults at each place. My only regret is not being able to bring her with us to Tokyo!

A challenging day turned excellent

5.00We were guided by Satoko. We had excellent correspondence leading up to the day and arrived at an agreed upon itinerary for the day. The day of our tour, it was raining which made for a more challenging day. We first visited Kinkaku-ji Temple. After our visit, she suggested we may want to consider shifting the rest of our day to include places were we could be inside. It was an excellent suggestion which turned the day into a thoroughly enjoyable day. We visited Nijo Castle and Sanjusangen-do Temple. Nijo Castle was okay. The gardens and it stopped raining were excellent. Slanjusangen-do Temple was amazing. Satoko's knowledge brought the temple alive and turned it from interesting to amazing. We had lunch and my wife and I both loved the place she picked to eat. As the day was ending, Satoko went above and beyond to walk us back to our hotel. Being a person who is not the best with directions, we truly appreciated her support and being our guide for the day.

5.00Kuni Arakawa was a fabulous guide. We're so glad the guide agency got him for us. We toured several temples in Kyoto. We'd chosen one less-crowded temple -- Nanzenji, and Kuni suggested nearby Tenjuan which was beautiful and even less crowded. He helped us navigate the public transportation system--that was a good way to get familiar with the subways and busses. And he was full of useful and interesting information. We had a late lunch at a great, uncrowded okonomiyaki restaurant that we'd never have found without Kuni. He also recommended other restaurants and activities which we tried in subsequent days. All very good.

5.00Michi reached out right away with options for our 6-hour tour, with descriptions of sites and maps. He was on time on the day of the tour, and throughout the day, he was knowledgeable, kind, and funny. He taught us so much about the sites.
