Originally known as Rabbitville for its use as a great rabbit habitat, eventually the area became known as Old Town, then the Gaslamp Quarter, named for the eponymous street lights. This sign came much later than the buildings here, completed in 1990.
Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House
Recognized as the oldest home in the Gaslamp, the materials for this saltbox style home were shipped from Maine, as lumber was scarce in the area. It would later become the County Hospital.

5.00Dave was awesome 😎 he was so well versed in the history of San Diego and being a native of San Diego was definitely a plus! His stories were entertaining and interesting as well as the fact that he took us into the Horton Grand Hotel and gave us a fantastic journey through history in this building. Dave is an incredible tour guide and he brings his knowledge and experience to make every tour memorable. Thanks Dave!
