Milford Sound is arguably the most scenic destination in New Zealand and a must-see for any traveller. Whether seen in sunshine or rain, the incredible views are guaranteed to leave you awestruck. Thisglobally award winning small group tour is for travellers seeking an all-inclusive, uniquely-kiwi, personalised trip from Queentown to Milford Sound and back.
Our fleet of modern Mercedes vans are fiited with leather seats, panoramic scenic windows, Wi-Fi and Spotify. Enjoy a small-group journey with 15 people maximum for ultimate comfort and undivded attention from your guide.
Let your Altitude Tours guide entertain you with in-depth knowledge of the area, as you travel from Queenstown into the Fiordland National Park on the famous Milford Road. Enjoy many scenic photo stops at both famous locations, as well as your guide's favourite spots.
Enjoy a 2-hour boutique uncrowded cruise and picnic lunch while taking in the incredible beauty that Milford Sound has to offer!

Travelers should have a high level of physical fitness
Please bring walking shoes, warm clothes and rain jacket.
Please be aware that Milford Sound is a 5 hour drive from Queenstown (one-way with sightseeing stops). This is a full day excursion, and including the 2 hour cruise on the fjord, allow approximately 13 hours door to door.
A packed picnic lunch is included in your experience. The default choice is a chicken, however you can request a vegetarian lunch until 5pm the day prior.
Please bring a reusable waterbottle on tour with us. There are multiple locations to refill during the day.

Start your day by meeting our friendly local guide at or near your Queenstown accommodation. You'll travel in style in a premium Mercedes van designed for touring with only 16 seats onboard. The first leg of our journey to Milford Sound transports you from Queenstown through the picturesque Southland farming country and the charming town of Te Anau, where we'll make a brief stop by the lakeside for refreshments.

Lake Te Anau is in the southwestern corner of the South Island of New Zealand. The lake covers an area of 344 km², making it the second-largest lake by surface area in New Zealand and the largest in the South Island. It is the largest lake in Australasia by fresh water volume.

5.00We highly recommend this tour. It’s a long trip to the cruise however the guide Jono engaged with the group and is extremely knowledgeable. Milford Sound (fjord) is breathtaking!

5.00One of the most beautiful experience we have had by far during our stay in NewZealand. Mc Amy was our travel guide who picked us from our hotel early morning. During our journey through the beautiful landscape that kept changing its color, Amy tied them to a history which was a great experience. We not only explored the beauty but all the stories behind them. Mc Amy ensured we got our regular breaks and were comfortable during this long road trip. She guided us to the right boat for our cruise and was there to pick us when we were back from the cruise. If you are looking for a travel partner, I would highly recommend Altitude Tours.

5.00This was truly an amazing experience from start to finish. Stuart, our guide, arrived early for our pickup—which I absolutely loved as I’m always early myself. From the moment we met him, he was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and his extensive knowledge of the area and the entire route to Milford Sound was impressive. He kept the whole group engaged, eagerly waiting for the next story or fun fact about the places we passed. I especially appreciated that he asked everyone to introduce themselves at the start of the tour, as it really helped break the ice and created a great group atmosphere. I can honestly say that Stuart made the entire day and experience unforgettable, far exceeding my expectations. Thank you so much—and a massive thanks to the Dutch man Stuart

5.00This day trip is a MUST DO!! Amazing scenery on a comfy bus with wifi and we had the BEST guide - Stuart. He was incredibly knowledgable and passionate about all settings on this trip and had great recommendations for Queenstown as well! Stuart was so friendly and made everyone on the bus feel welcomed and included. Milford Sound has the most gorgeous views - from the drive to the boat - all around an amazing experience.

5.00Gina is new to guiding but tries to do her best giving an entertaining experience and is very friendly to everyone despite the long day. She’s reasonably well informed of the route and gave pop quizzes to everything we see along the way and is very flexible with requests.

5.00We had an excellent time on this trip. Will, our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and informative. We stopped at lots of great spots for photos. The milford sound cruise was also fantastic. Well worth it, would highly recommend.
