Cajon del Maipo
Cajón del Maipo is a canyon located in the Andean southeastern portion of the Santiago Metropolitan Region. It encompasses the upper Maipo River basin, where the river has entrenched itself in a narrow valley. The zone features a series of confluent rivers such as El Volcán River, Yeso River and Colorado River, as well as other minor streams, including San Gabriel, Manzanito, Coyanco, El Sauce, El Manzano and San José. The main locality is San José de Maipo, capital of the commune that includes all of the Andean sector of the Metropolitan Region
Embalse El Yeso
This sector actually corresponds to the “El Yeso Reservoir”, a formidable body of water located over 2,000 m.a.s.l. , it has a capacity of 250,000,000 m3, and a depth of 55 meters. In its emerald green waters, it is possible to practice various water sports such as wind-surfing and sport fishing, all surrounded by gigantic mountains. In this place you are going to enjoy the picnic.

Unsafe and Uncomfortable transportation

1.00My son and I had to get out of the van before the trip started. I was jammed in the back corner seat with having to get over two people just in order to get out of my seat. In an emergency situation it would have been VERY UNSAFE. now the local tour operator, MTO Chile, refuses to refund our money.

1.00Was not able to go on tour as the tour van was completely FULL and seats were not adequate nor safe. I was crammed in back corner, knees in chin, sitting at an angle with 2 people blocking my ability to exit. Had to get off with my son and cancel trip. No response from tour operator, no assistance. Will have to file a dispute with credit card company. DO NOT USE VIATOR!!!

5.00It was a great experience! We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. The tour itself has beautiful landscapes, the tour guide spoke really good English, was friendly and a good driver. I definitely recommend it!

3.00My only complaint is that the description said the tour would start at 7am, which was as early as we would have wanted. But we got a message the night before saying they would pick us up at 6:05am. When we got in the bus, it was already half filled, and some of the customers had a 5:45 am pickup. If that is ok with you, go for it, it was a good tour and good value.

4.00Beautiful place we went in summer time, and it was very cold I recommend wearing coat if you are going to do this walk. They can bring their own food to save money. Breakfast pay 2 cappuccinos (they are not rich, they tasted weird) and a red muffin velvet 15000 Chilean pesos. Very rich lunch food (salty) We just went to the chili election day and could not do the picnic since I had to vote we came back earlier. We missed a ride there and got no discount for that.

5.00Good service, the best is the pick-up and drop-off of where we were staying. Remember to dress in layers, we went in summer so initially it was very cold and then very hot.

5.00We visited El Cajon del Maipo and embalse del Yeso, This experience is a must, what a beautiful place! We also visited a very cute farm where we were able to hang out with the goats, and try some of the products like dulce de leche and cheese.
