This was an amazing tour. Our guide was phenomenal, I think his name was Alex and he made the tour exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable about the French royalty and what was occurring at Versailles during this period. I’ve done a number of palace tours and this one stands out as the best. Must do.

We really enjoyed this trip to Versailles. Our guide (think her name was Stephanie?) was really well-informed but didn't overload us with info (unless we asked). She had a ton of fun facts and a great sense of humor. Versailles was busy when we end in June but even with that, our guide herded all us cats very effectively. Train trip from Paris was nice and easy and we got easy admission since we were in a tour group. Some may balk at the price of these tours but we found it well worth it. Versailles is beautiful but if you don't know the history you really miss out on the story of this incredible place. Magnifique!

A magical place to visit when in Paris. The journey there is via Metro and train. Please be aware of fast moving crowded metro!

To be fair, the actual tour was amazing- and if you are lucky enough to get Alex, you will have an amazing time. The 3 star rating is because the company changed our start time to later without informing us. They claim they sent an email, but refused to tell me the email address they sent it to ( it wasn’t just us, others were there too, in the same situation). I asked for a refund and they refused ( quite rude on the phone).

Was a pretty crowded tour and unfortunately our guide Vincent didn’t provide a lot of details of the rooms we got to see. He mainly focused on the art in the rooms and didn’t really give much background about the palace and the other details to note about the rooms. Would have been interesting to learn more about the palace throughout its history and not just the symbolism of it being built during the reign of Louis XIV. Garden tour was pretty glossed over and he seemed keen to just end the tour. Also, not sure why they make you take the train from the Rive Droit station rather then the RER from Rive Gauche when that would be a shorter walk to get to the palace.
