Easy booking for summer palace - just bring QR code and passport to gate. Highly recommend using ferry to move around the lake as it is huge.

We went on a sunny Sunday in may. The place was heaving with Chinese enjoying their weekend. It is basically a big lake with the main palace and temple on one side. The temple is closed unfortunately but the palace you can walk round I would recommend the visit although most of the buildings were closed or empty. To enter we needed to show our passports but they were not scanned and they didn't ask for a ticket.
