Discover New Zealand’s iconic Piha Beach on our West Coast Discovery tour! Starting with a pick-up from Auckland CBD, enjoy a 30-minute scenic drive through the Waitakere Ranges. Our first stop is the Arataki Visitor Centre, where you’ll learn about New Zealand’s native trees and enjoy sweeping views over the ranges—an ideal start to exploring the west coast.
Next, we take a 20-minute drive to Karekare Waterfalls, where a short, easy walk leads you to this stunning natural site, perfect for photos. Then, we head to the famous Piha Surf Beach, known for its black iron-sand and thrilling waves from the Tasman Sea, where you can go for a swim or just relax and enjoy the stunning views.
Be sure to visit Lion Rock, located at the heart of the beach, for breathtaking views and unforgettable photo opportunities.
After that, we head back to Auckland CBD.

5.00Adil, our guide was terrific. He shared his knowledge of New Zealand history and the history and character of the Auckland area. He was able to explain the significance of each site we visited. When the main road was closed to a waterfall he got us there by way of a winding backroad so we didn't miss out. I woukd recommend this tour and especially Adil as a guide.

5.00Great tour. Stephen was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to you. No lunch included but he will ask to take you to a spot if you’re hungry and he took us to buy icecream. We even did a bonus visit to the Auckland Winter Garden. Recommend to take this tour.

5.00Huge thanks to Nancy for a fantastic West Coast Discovery tour. She made a great tour extra special with her anecdotes, insights and great sense of humour. She engaged with all of the group members and was really responsive and flexible given changing weather - we ended up doing a great little hike up to a different waterfall as the road to the Karekare waterfall was closed… and Nancy added in a scenic coffee stop. Lunch at Piha beach was a great choice. Great tour - we had a really fun day.

5.00Thoroughly enjoy this trip and the other people were lovely. Nancy was an amazing tour guide and had a great sense of humor. Had the best time. Haven’t laughed so much in ages. Nancy was a wealth of information regarding anything we asked of her and her local knowledge was excellent. The waterfall was just beautiful. Highly recommend this tour and Nancy as a tour guide.

5.00Gentle tour around the coast and forests a short drive from Auckland, lovely landscapes and coastal views. Took the longer forest walk up to the waterfall which was well worth it. Nancy was a great guide, informative and entertaining.

5.00It was a wonderful tour with Adil. He tailored the tour to suit us - taking us not only to the sites referred to in the itinerary, but also to other locations that he thought we would like and were a little off the usual “touristy” venues. He also gave us a very informative and interesting commentary along the way. We thoroughly recommend this tour!

5.00Our guides, Nancy and Aiden, had so many interesting stories and facts to share as we drove through pristine country to the gorgeous Karekare Falls and the spectacular black sands of Piha Beach. Excellent trip.
