5.00This is By far the best trip I could have asked for. I wanted a smaller boat so I didn’t have to fight 50+ people on a boat to look at a whale. Hahah. I got exactly that. Libby and William were hands down the reason this trip made it all worth it. If you can do one thing in Juneau… BOOK THIS EXCURSION! I promise you won’t regret it.

5.00Captain Libby and Will were awesome and very informative. They made our family trip feel personalized and they made us feel welcome and they explained everything to us and it was such a wonderful time. On this trip was aunt, friend and myself, we give it a thumbs up. I would totally recommend this to anybody that wants to go while watching those two are perfect to go out with.

5.00We had the best time with William today. He picked us up and dropped us off which was such a helpful perk because we don’t have a car while we are here. The boat and van are clean and comfortable (and the boat was stocked with snacks AND Vortex binoculars!). William is super knowledgeable about wildlife, the area, and the waters. He has a professional camera and will share his pictures with you so you can be in the moment on the trip. We got to see Dall’s Porpoises, Sea Lions, and Whales. He and Libby knew just what to do to make sure we saw the whales. And Libby’s comedic stylings were not to be missed 😂 You won’t be sorry to book with Tongass Tours!
Wonderful Whale Watch Experience with Tongass Tides

5.00We had the fortune of getting booked with TonGass Tides, 8/23/25, a beautiful sunny day after a spell of wet weather in Juneau. We wanted a smaller boat versus the typical large 40+ capacity boats. We were not disappointed. Owner, William, and Captain Devin were penultimate hosts. William knows the area well as a lifetime Alaskan and provided descriptions of the geographic areas we saw as we cruised to several watch areas. They admitted the secret is to follow the other whale watchers that are on site. We saw a total of five whales, a group of harbor seals basking in the sun on a buoy, and an eagle. Kelp was our first siting which was our closest encounter as he once dove in our direction giving a great view of his fluke, then Magma and her baby entertained us with some dorsal fin waves. The last three were farther away, but one exhaled its blow hole for a nice end to the experience. William provided us copies of his photos taken with a nice zoom lens. Photos posted are a combination of mine and William's. I highly recommend Tongass Tides for a whale watch tour in the Juneau area.
