  I’m going to split up my review into two parts: one for our driver Oskar, and the other for the tour company. Our driver Oskar was absolutely fantastic. He went above and beyond to make sure that my pregnant wife was comfortable and warm while the rest of us were standing in -4°C weather for 3 hours waiting for tickets. She was able to stay with him in the van and he lent her a blanket to use to stay warm. We are both incredibly grateful that she could stay warm for our baby despite the challenges with the tour. We can’t thank him enough for his help. As for the tour itself, understand that you are paying for transportation to Auschwitz. The driver is there to help the group obtain day-of tickets from the ticket office. Because of this, expect to wake up very early. Forget any suggested time you are requesting, you will be meeting your driver sometime between 2-3am, and you will stand outside (without a roof or restrooms) along with other tour groups from 4am until the ticket office opens at 7:30am. If we had known this beforehand, we could have prepared better for it. We thought we had a 12:10pm departure time. Midday the day before the tour, were abruptly notified about a revised 2:10am departure time. On very short notice, we had to quickly change our morning plans to accommodate this. It’s all in the fine print, but what seems like a possibility is a frequently occurring reality. It’s certainly rough, but it essentially guarantees that you’ll have a ticket to a guided tour of the museum. If you are booking a trip more than 90 days in advance, I’d recommend checking the museum site directly for tickets and commuting via train. It’s a 15 minute walk from the closest station. We booked our trip after advanced tickets sold out, so using a guide who knows when we need to arrive to ensure we get tickets was helpful, despite the painful wakeup time and waiting in the bitter cold.   Absolutely awful experience as our trip to Auschwitz got cancelled at 9.15pm the night before. Basically ruined our trip as the main reason for coming was to do this trip. This then left us not being able to get onto another trip at short notice! Extremely disappointed

  Although the pick up is very early, mine at 2.00 am on new year’s day, overall its worth it. Request for Daniel as your driver if possible, very helpful and tried to accommodate all our needs during the trip.

  An excellent tour and a great day out the guide was excellent and the transport links were good with plenty of opportunities for coffee and breaks of waiting although do wish I’d been informed of the 2am departure time earlier on although this seems to be a thing for all tours so would have preferred clearer communication about this sooner

  I booked a guided tour for two people with pick up in front of the hotel at 6.30am, but at 8pm the night before I received an email telling me that they would pick me up at 2.00am. Of course, free cancellation was only possible up to 24 hours before the tour, so we had no choice but to participate or we would lose the money spent. Also, being in the middle of the Christmas holidays, online tickets for the museum visit were no longer available, and the tours still available were reaching crazy prices. So the only chance to see the museum was actually this. The driver who came to pick us up, first of all, drove ill-advisedly. In addition, before boarding the bus, he told us that once we got there, we would have to do 4 hours in a row and that he would think about buying tickets there on the spot. So, in fact buying this tour you DO NOT also buy tickets or the right to enter, as, once you arrived, we found that the tickets provided by the structure to those who had not previously purchased it on the official website of the museum were limited, so you had to be "lucky" to be at the front of the line once you arrived there to be sure of entering. In addition, the driver, who was not the museum guide, should have queued with us, instead he left us there in front of 3.30 am, in the snow, without even the possibility of contacting him (in case someone felt sick, being that the temperature was very low and the waiting time was very long) and without the possibility of waiting in the bus. He showed up again at 7.30am, after the museum gates opened. After the gates opened we also had to queue to buy tickets (which does not sell this tour directly, but ONLY the museum), and in the meantime we saw people, who had already bought the ticket from the museum website, rightly pass us. In addition, the only guided tour available in English, once physically purchased tickets, was at 9.30am. So we had to wait another hour before we could actually start the tour. In conclusion, we waited from 3.30 in the morning to 9.30 in the morning under the snow (for an hour it also snowed extremely hard), at sub-zero temperatures. In addition, the only bathroom (present only in the museum) was accessible of course only after the gates were opened. Of this very long wait, we are informed only in the message that arrived to us the night before the activity, not even allowing people to be able to organize with food, thermos with hot drinks or other (we were at the time of the message at the restaurant and then, once dinner was finished, any supermarket was now closed). Very bad experience, I would not recommend it, especially for the elderly, children or people with health problems.

  The tour was cancelled a few hours earlier. With enormous regret and disappointment. We couldn't find any other solution. Viator flunked.

  A complete desaster!!! Don’t go with them. Very very cold and left alone. Not suitable for families. Started at 2 am under the snow

  Info needs to more transparent on the actual conditions and amount of time your going to be waiting (7hours in this case) Then the pace of the tours it’s self are quick and less informative, perhaps due to how busy it is nowadays I have been previously in 2017 and it was more organised and more informative back then !! Seems to have gotten money grabbing & greedy, losing what it’s actually all about. That’s the real shame here My advice is if can book directly with the museum and make you own way there, this will cut out an uncomfortable wait times

  Do not book with this operator. They rescheduled last minute requesting us to departure 2am in the morning instead of 8 am as it stood in the booking. We could not manage this due to our travel plans and was promised by the operator to receive a refund. I have still not received a refund to this date and they have stoped answering. Viator has not been very helpful either in this. Stay away is my strongest recommendation, total scam.

  Good evening, I bought 5 tickets for an excursion to Auschwitz for 8 am on Saturday, December 27 and received, a few hours before a message from the organizer to inform me that the departure time has been brought forward to 2.15 a.m. We participated equally otherwise it would have meant losing the experience but given the obvious inconvenience that this caused to me and my group, I would appreciate a partial refund or a discount on the amount paid.
