Joy Journeys always care for our client's experience. All of our tours have a small group with maximum of 10 guests visiting Cu Chi Tunnels. Our group will spend most of the time at Ben Duoc Tunnels which is well-known as the less-crowded, less-busy, and more authentic experience time in Cu Chi.
Our tour offers a unique opportunity to witness the war history of Vietnam by exploring the underground Cu Chi Tunnels. You'll have the chance to see the booby traps used during the war and explore the ex-US Army tank from the Vietnam War by touching it.
Additionally, you'll be able to crawl inside the tunnels of Cu Chi and taste the locally grown Viet Cong food, tapioca, next to the tunnels. Finally, you'll witness the propaganda of Viet Cong soldiers in Tan Phu Trung Ward and experience the underground Hoang Cam kitchen.
The highlight of the tour is when you can experience crawling into the Tunnels to feel what it was like during the war.

Ben Duoc tunnel complex
The Cu Chi Tunnels, located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, were an extensive network of underground tunnels that served as a critical strategic location during the Vietnam War. Constructed over several years, the tunnels spanned more than 250 kilometers and were made up of multiple layers, including living quarters, kitchens, meeting rooms, hospitals, and even schools. The tunnels were dug by hand, using rudimentary tools such as shovels, hoes, and picks, and the workers would remove the soil from the tunnels and conceal it in nearby fields to avoid detection. Navigating through the Cu Chi Tunnels was a complex task, requiring specialized knowledge and training. The tunnels were narrow, with a height of only a few feet, and were often filled with traps and obstacles, such as spike pits and hidden doors. The Viet Cong soldiers were trained to move silently and quickly through the tunnels, using their knowledge of the terrain to avoid detection.

Fantastic tour. Thehighlight for me was exploring the underground network dark, cramped, and full of hidden surprises. It’s hard to believe people lived down there. Above ground was just as interesting, with real relics, traps, no smoking kitchens... It is 100% worth the visit.

Ken our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate in his (also personal) account of the history of the Vietnam War and the Cu Chi tunnels. Although not passionate about war of any kind, it was interesting to immerse yourself in those terrible years and discover the survival techniques of soldiers, with the hope that this horror will never be repeated. It was also very nice the next tour in the Mekong Delta to discover the islands, canals and typical products of the place, such as coconut candy and honey! An experience to repeat!

The smokeless ketchen completely shocked me.I had no idea such an ingenious system existed to hide smoke underground during the war. Crawling through the tunnels to discover hidden bunkers made the whole experience even more powerful. How resourceful and clever the Vietnamese people had to be to survive OMG. It was one of the most impressive parts of the whole Chu Chi experience.

The guide did a great job explaining the history of the war and the tunnels, even during the van ride he gave us background about how war victims are supported through traditional crafts like lacquerware. We stopped at a small cafe with a lacquerware workshop. Yes, a bit commercial, but at least it was clear in the itinerary and made sense with the story. Everything was well organized and on schedule. Overall, a good and informative experience.

We had an awesome time on our Ben Duoc 'Less-Crowded' Cu Chi Tunnels Half-Day Tour. Our host, Kero, was a phenomenal guide. He was super-informative and has a great personality. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Our guide was Ken who provided a great experience with not only lots of information but real stories about those that lived during the war years and how people lived and worked during those difficult times. Going through the tunnels gave us a chance to appreciate the lives we live now. Thanks Ken
