The experience on the boat and crew were awesome. We saw 7 Mantas!! The up front organization and communication were confusing. There is opportunity for improvement there. Lots of companies all on the same pier with no idea which boat is which. But we made it and overall it was an amazing experience.

This is an amazing adventure that everyone who comes to Kona needs to do! Our tour guides were absolutely amazing (and funny!) and very knowledgeable about the manta rays and the history of them in Kona. We ended up seeing up to 8 different manta rays and they get right up in your face, definitely breathtaking!! It’s an amazing experience and something we would definitely recommend!

wetsuit if you get cold easily. water temp is warm, tolerable. no amenity tour, guides & boat captain are experience, just that you dont get the fufu stuff other tour companies offer with charged priced. so, I don't mind, only bring onbard stuff you get wet with. go with an open mind, wild animals do not keep a schedule! so be patience!

They changed the time of the tour right before the trip, which ruined our evening plan. One evening plan out of only so many valuable vacation days. What was worse was the person in communication - extremely rude and emotional. Avoid this company.

Loved this! One of the best things we did on our trip. We were time-constrained this snorkel worked the best for us. A few minutes each way boat ride, as opposed to 1/2 hour each way. Boat was no frills, but that worked for us. The staff was great, from the guy at check-in (can't remember his name, sorry) to the staff on the boat. Decided to go with the wetsuit which made the snorkel more comfortable.

After hours of researching, we definitely chose the worst company to book a manta ray tour with. It wasn't even the cheapest company, and check-in sounded easy, so our hopes were that it would be a great experience. WRONG. We arrived 30min prior to our 7:40pm tour, and were told go somewhere else away from the white van to wait 20min. So we did. Came back 20min later, checked in, and waited by the street light by the docks for the boat. Boat came, we boarded, very excited to see mantas. Captain Shaka pumped us up to see the mantas, Serge got us more pumped up by yelling "CHEEHOO" several times. Once in the water, our water guide Serge swam us over to another tour's light board to "join forces". Those people were confused by it, but agreed to the team up. We waited for 18+min and saw nothing. My husband overheard Serge talking bad about other boats doing tours out there, and talking bad about Captain Shaka and others he worked with. He also heard him getting nervous about us not seeing any mantas (my guess is bc then they would have to make good on their "guarantee policy" if we didn't see any, and that means free trips and no money in their pockets). --> We finally saw 3 mantas for about 3min and then were told to go back to the boat. So essentially, we had our "guaranteed sighting", and had to leave immediately. Our tour was supposed to be an hour long, but it was legitimately 40min long check-in to returning to the dock. Very bummed bc we were the last boat to arrive after everyone else was out there, and the first boat to leave. Felt like a complete rip-off. They really take advantage of people and hurry the whole thing along bc they want to flip boats fast for more money. $200 for a 3min manta sighting experience. My suggestion, save your money, and book with a different company that will actually let you have time with the mantas instead of packing you up immediately after you see one.
