From the moment of booking, we were contacted by Samuel with an extensive list of dishes varying from Nyonya, Chinese, Malay, Indian & Street Food. We chose some dishes that you don’t come across very often & glad we did. Samuel had passion for his recipes & wanted to pass on his expertise to us. He talked us through all steps and left us to carry on with supervision. We enjoyed eating all we made, but so much food! Make sure you are hungry beforehand!

Chef Samuels cooking class was so much fun! From the moment we booked the class he communicated extremely well. Instead of a set menu we were sent an extensive list of dishes and we picked the ones that interested us the most. On the day of our class Chef Samuel picked us up promptly from our hotel in Georgetown. We went to a day market which was unlike any experience we’ve had back home. At the market we grabbed a snack and he introduced us to delicious foods we’d never heard of before. From there we went to his studio to start cooking. The class was informative and not only did we learn new culinary skills but Chef Samuel was encouraging, funny and considerate. When we finished cooking we were able to experience our creations in a private dining room before we were driven back to our hotel. It was a wonderful afternoon and we would highly recommend this experience!

Immediately upon my booking, Chef Samuel connected with me to provide food recommendations and travel tips for Penang. This really allowed us to experience some of the culinary highlights of the island that we never would have found without his suggestions! He was able to accommodate our group with mixed languages or English and Mandarin which was very helpful in allowing all of our party to learn and enjoy the class. [My mother and aunts spoke mandarin. I can understand it, but it was helpful to get the English translations for some things] Getting to try all of these awesome dishes also helped us choose which of the extensive delicious local dishes we wanted to make. We went with the classic Nasi Lemak and it was so delicious. We paired it with Roti Canai which we had been really excited to learn since we had it almost every day for breakfast. He went over the technique with us to properly make flaky, fluffy, crisp, and delicious roti that we almost ate all of it before we even got to the main meal! We also ended up making a dessert which we liked but could barely make a dent in since we were so full from everything else. I really cannot say enough good things about Chef Samuel. He is clearly very passionate about food, both cooking, and trying restaurants from all around the city and without his awesome advice, we wouldn't have had nearly as much fun as we did in Penang. Thank you Chef Samuel!
