  Our Buggy excursion was a mixture of very good and very bad! The good was the tour. It is an amazing experience. I would recommend it to anyone. I never thought getting wet and muddy would be money well spent, but it was! There is no way to avoid it, but it wouldn't have been as much fun otherwise. During the excursion we made a scheduled stop to learn about chocolate, coffee, cigars and mama juana. The chocolate, coffee, and mama juana were incredible. The staff there were amazing. We asked about eating food there and were told we would come back there or possibly another place. We continued to our final stop which was a beach stop with a swim in the ocean. We got wet and muddy again, so swimming in the ocean was a great way to finish the excursion. Now for the bad. We had a 10:45 pickup time and were advised the excursion would be three hours from pickup to drop off. We arrived at 10:30, but we were told they were still waiting for another group from a different ship. Well that wait turned into a 55 minute delay. We booked this excursion on our own, not through the ship, so getting back on time was very important. During the excursion we asked about getting some authentic food. We were told yes, but never happened because of time. Our last stop in the ocean should have been about 20 minutes, or possibly longer, but lasted 5 minutes because of time. When our excursion ended they tried to sell us the picture package but we didn't have time. They tried multiple times to get me to view and purchase something. We would have genuinely purchased something as this was an incredible experience. I had to be firm about needing to leave immediately and there was no urgency on their end to bring us back. When you book an excursion outside of any cruise you are on your own to make it back on time. We were required to be back on our cruise by 3:15. We made it back to the cruise at 3:10. The tour guides were very nice and the experience was amazing. I just wish they were more mindful of timeframes for each group. I would love to know if there is a way to still receive a picture/video package.

  My husband and two daughters had the BEST time with this excursion. One of the mos wonderful experiences we have ever had on a tour. Be prepared, read the details, you WILL get dirty, but they take such good care of people during the excursion. We had all we needed, from pick up to drop off. You dont even need to worry about pictures or videos.

  It’s was a BLAST! Bring a Walmart Poncho & a waterproof bag for phone, wallet & anything you don’t want to get wet! Also wear old clothes you don’t care about!!

  Great time getting muddy! Hit some huge dips filled with water…refreshingly dirty. You can pay for bandanas but we did not. Just keep your mouth closed. The folks were awesome, great pics and a video. Loved every minute and a visit to the beach to rinse off.

  Really fun but prepared to get super muddy!! Buggy is very easy to drive I’d recommend bringing a waterproof bag for your phone and wallet

  This was sooooo much fun!! We got to drive our dune buggy. We got to go fast, and get wet and muddy!! What's not to like?? Had a absolute ball. One guy wore a while shirt lol, don't do that, it will never be while again 🤣

  Fantastic experience! The company was so great about explaining everything and insuring our safety along the way. They even took video footage and photos that you can purchase at the end. So much fun! Would highly recommend.

• Fun Dune Buggy Adventure! Be prepared to get very wet and muddy!

  Overall a very solid dune buggy excursion. We booked this excursion outside of the cruise line because they would allow my 7 year old to participate, and the cruise line one had a minimum age of 8. The pickup location is outside of the port, which was a solid 15-20 minute walk. The did a nice job texting photos of where the location was, but you just need to give yourself enough time to get there. Don’t think you can hop off your cruise ship 10 mins before the meeting time and get there on time. Give yourself 20-30 minutes because you need to exit the port completely, and then walk down the street a little. I loved that the location of the excursion was only a two minute drive from Amber Cove. The staff did a good job getting everyone situated with helmets, goggles, and bandanas (for sale if desired, but we brought our own). The buggy adventure was good. You do plenty of driving and see a lot of the countryside. It’s a guided tour, and not a free for all where you’re speeding around. There are a couple very specific spots where they have you go fast through muddy waters, and boy do you get wet and dirty. Be prepared to be absolutely soaked with water and mud. If you are bringing a backpack, wrap it in a trash bag or something (we did but it still got wet). They also offer lockers at the main site but I think there was a charge. My advice would be to travel with as little as possible. Halfway through the trip, you stop at a little market place where they let you wash up a bit and then let you sample some chocolate and Mamajuana (Dominican alcohol beverage). They also give you the opportunity to browse a little gift shop. They do accept credit cards and Apple Pay, but cash is preferred. After that, you hit the road/trails again for another drive through a very muddy/water area. This was the time we got absolutely plastered with mud. And then, they let you drive fast through a shallow river which washes a lot of the mud off. Finally, a stop at the beach (near the base camp) for those who want to swim and wash up. A short 5 minute drive back to base camp where you can shower and change if you brought spare clothes. Overall a fun little outing for my family. You get to see the non tourist side of typical Dominican living, and have fun doing so. Just be prepared to get absolutely filthy and wet, but it all washes off very easily. At the end of the tour, they do try to sell you a video of the excursion that they filmed through the ride, and the cost depends on how many people were in your party. For my party of 4, they wanted $60 for it. We declined though. Even though it was a nice little movie, it wasn’t worth it on our opinion. Again, we were happy with the staff, their communication before the trip, and their helpfulness throughout. We would definitely recommend!
