This Monkey Home and Damajagua waterfalls tour offers pick up at all Puerto Plata hotels, as well as both Taino Bay and Amber Cove cruise ports.
A tour to keep an eye out for wildlife such as squirrel monkeys as you go. Then stop and, under the supervision of the staff, place a plate of fruit for the monkeys to approach you.
After your visit to Monkey Home, we will then go all the way to Damajagua Waterfalls, where you will be able to take the tour in 7 different pools, jumping and sliding. Throughout the tour, see for yourself how a local lives in the area without electricity or running water. Also learn about the history and cultural traditions of this Caribbean island.

Damajagua Waterfalls
The Damajagua Waterfalls, also known as the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua, are a series of natural waterfalls and pools located in the northern part of the Dominican Republic, near Puerto Plata. Visitors can hike through the jungle, jump, slide, and swim through these cascading falls, making it a popular spot for adventure tourism and eco-tourism. The name “Damajagua” refers to the river that feeds the waterfalls.

You’ll visit Monkey Home where you can feed monkeys fruit. Enjoy a smooth ride over to Moneky Home and enjoy a ride with special drivers that can speak English. Keep an eye out for wildlife, such as squirrel monkeys, as you go. Then, stop and with the supervision of staff, put out a plate of fruit to get the monkeys to come to you.

5.00Great experience! Our tour guide Junior was amazing, he was so generous and friendly! (If you are lucky enough to have him) The waterfalls were SO fun and beautiful. The monkeys were adorable and the the workers at monkey land were lovely and gave us a full tour! 100% recommend this tour

3.00The activities them self were great and our driver Yuery was wonderful but this is advertised as a 4.5 hour trip and it was 6. We booked while stopping on a cruise and thought this would leave extra time to enjoy the beautiful port however our day started by meeting at the designated time then waiting an additional 35 minutes before leaving. The ride is advertised as 30 minutes each way and it is 45. At the waterfalls they let hundreds of people cut ahead of us because they booked through the cruise ships. So it was constantly waiting in line. It was extremely frustrating. Then it was quick back to the shuttle to the monkeys which was another 15 minutes. The monkeys were great but at this point we were starving we got off the boat at 9 and weren’t returned to the port until 4. We had no time for lunch or to enjoy the port unfortunately. So if you are travelling off a cruise ship I would not recommend.

5.00The waterfalls were great, when they said keep it tight they meant it...I got a Dominican tattoo lol. The monkeys were so cute and the tour guide made sure everyone had an interactive experience so no one felt left out.

5.00I highly recommend using Puerta Plata Travel for your taxi needs. Jerry was so helpful in getting us to and from our cruise ship in time and he made sure we arrived safely at our excursion sites. Felix was a wonderful guide for the waterfall he made sure everyone in our group was taken care of safely he made it a very memorable experience. Alex and Gelsy were so knowledgeable about the care of the squirrel monkeys and did a great job informing us of their habits and needs, while giving us the opportunity to hold and play with them. All in all it was a great day and we would highly recommend this excursion.
Tour guides need signage to help customers find their driver.

5.00Tour guide was great. Everyone had a good time once we found him. The problem was we didn't receive info on where to meet up with the guide before the cruise left so there was a lot of confusion. Once we got on the ship our phones were in airplane mode so we couldn't receive the texts you sent the day before the tour. We walked right by the tour guide not knowing who we were looking for. It would have helped if they'd have held a sign up with our name or the name of the tour on it. We walked outside of Amber Cove and other company drivers had to help find you.
So much fun!

5.00Yeury was our driver for this trip. He communicated well, was prompt, and the transportation was comfortable. Wander was our guide for the waterfall and he was great!! The water slides were amazing but you should be prepared for the hike. Thankfully we wore comfortable walking and water shoes since there are quite a few stairs to get to the top. The trail was extremely well maintained and the water was refreshing. I recommend bringing dry clothes to change into after the waterfalls, there are lockers you can rent to store your belongings. Yeury then drove us to the monkey home and that was also a blast!! The handlers will make sure you get some amazing photos. Thanks again Yeury, you were awesome!!

5.00Getting to the waterfalls is quite a hike, I had a bit of a hard time with all the steps due to torn MCL ( and being out of shape ). But it was so worth it. Berto one if the guides was wonderful. Our driver, Yeury, was prompt in picking us up at the cruise port with a good support system of other drivers at the port and conscience of the time we had to be back on the ship. Yeury was courteous and spoke English. The monkey experience was awesome. This was a great day. Would do it again.
