Macorix House of Rum
Macorix House of Rum is a historical museum of the Ron Family Macorix was born in 1899 by the Carrión family from the town of San Pedro de Macorís, a place considered by many to be the land of poets, artists and sugar cane. 110 years later, Ron Macorix became part of the Vinícola del Norte family of the port city of Puerto Plata, uniting two emblematic rum-producing towns in the Dominican Republic.
Being one of the most beautiful visual attractions of the city, a lot turist go day by day, for enjoy of this beautiful places and take the most beautiful pictures.

5.00After getting off my ship I walked through the port to the meeting spot. It is a bit of a walk so allow 10 minutes or so. Our ride was a hop on and off air conditioned van. The driver was very warm and friendly. He took us to all the destinations listed and told us that while we are with him he considers us his family in that he will talk to us and take care of us like any of his family members. I definitely found this to be true. There was a lady in our group with a walker and he sat her up front with him and made sure to assist her as needed. Plus when he saw we were getting warm outside he offered us bottled water or a place to stand in the shade if available. If you have a fear of driving in crazy traffic then you might not like this tour because there are many moped/motorcycle taxis in addition to other traffic. They zoom in and out and around the other larger vehicles. Also, be aware that there will be local residents trying to hawk their merchandise or take a pic for money at the stops.

5.00This is a very nice, low key little tour for a great price. There were only 4 of us, plus the driver. We went to five or six sites, including the Chocolate Factory, the Rum house and the umbrella street. Tour lasted about 3.5 hours, which was perfect. Our driver, Junior, was knowledgeable and considerate.

5.00Andy was our guide and was very friendly and informative. We enjoyed seeing the city. My husband really liked the stop at the rum factory. The stop at the candy store and amber “mine” were ok. The city was bustling with activity and it was interesting to see. It was a nice was to spend a few hours off the ship.

5.00Enjoyable and interesting tour of Puerto Plata. Leury excellent guide, lovely guy, looked after us well. Enjoyed making cigars, rum tasting, pics in umbrella street in particular. Good value too!

5.00Driver was courteous,helpful when needed and knowledgeable. Got us to the planned itinerary with ample time to enjoy the stops.. Got back to our ship on time without losing the scheduled stops.
