Hampton Court Palace is a tale of two palaces: a grand Tudor palace originally built by Cardinal Wolsey before being developed by Henry VIII. Dovetailing with the Tudor splendour is the Baroque palace designed by Sir Christopher Wren for William III and Mary II in the 17th century.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the vast Tudor Kitchens where Henry VIII's banquets were prepared. Climb the stairs into the magnificent Great Hall and Tudor State Apartments, gaze down to the Chapel Royal from the Royal Pew.

Hampton Court Palace
Flamboyant Henry VIII is most associated with this majestic palace, which he extended and developed after acquiring it in the 1520s. The palace's many royal occupants have ensured the palace has fabulous furnishings, tapestries and paintings. It is set in beautiful formal gardens, which include the famous maze and the Great Vine. Hampton Court has a designated Family Room, where parents and young children are invited to take a rest from the bustle of the palace. The play equipment is suitable for children aged under five. Family Trails guiding children around the palace are available at the Information Center. The palace is pushchair friendly and a lift is available if you'd like to access the upper floor without using the stairs. Hampton Court is just half an hour from Central London by direct train and is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon out of the city! At least three hours is recommended for your visit to Hampton Court. Do you want to visit more Royal sites? We had a fabulous day at Hampton Court Palace. My family and I would particularly like to commend the excellent staff in the shop, namely Nicole, Noleen and Wendy. We were bowled over by their wonderful customer service, professionalism and friendliness especially with my 6 year old daughter. They made her day by their genuine kindness and interest, and are a genuine asset to the Palace. With many thanks and kind wishes

The ticket prices are not cheap. Also there are additional car parking fees. However, the car park is spacious and for the time of year, November, plenty of spaces. The only option for a guided tour was the use of a tablet and headphones. I would have much preferred a person as a guide. Alas all the guides seemed to be heavily involved with the large amount of school children visits. Many class sized groups of children which regrettably in my opinion loses the ability to really feel the history of the building. I appreciate it’s a good day out for children but I think the number of classes should be limited . Far too many. It’s an interesting palace and I loved the gardens too. The shop sells a nice selection of related items. The cafe is good and the home made soup and bread was particularly good value. There are vegan options . Overall a recommended visit but I would recommend seeking offers to lower the expense.

I was lucky enough to get myself into a Tour of the Gardens. The whole day was amazing. I loved everything about the place. But Ann our Guide of the beautiful Gardens made the day extra special for me. She was terrific. She made its history come to life. Thank you Ann.

Was curious about the life of Henry the VIII, so decided to visit Hampton Court Palace. Did not book any tour coach, had caught the train to Kingston and a bus from there. Had booked the palace ticket in advance. Had liked the garden maze that takes 20 minutes to get into the centre, the kitchen gardens, the State Apartments and the Privy Gardens. On enquiry, the staff said the magic garden for children is closed for the winter. Did not hear the ghostly screams of Catherine Howard on the corridor, though others say they did. Ticket price was £28 per person, so it is definitely high and worth a one time visit. I spent 5 hours at this place. Will recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.

We have visited many houses around the uk as National Trust members and Hampton Court is ok. It’s certainly not a blenheim palace or a like, we spent just over two hours there and couple of days before spent 5 1/2 hrs at Hever Castle. Not cheap to get in and have to pay for parking on top. Would not visit again, it’s ok.

Went for Halloween at Hampton court with a friend and the whole experience was amazing, such a beautiful building even with renovation work happening it didn't disturb the day or experience at all, had a lovely cream and jam scone with tea at the tiltyard cafe, the Halloween ghosts and decorations were very good not over the top taking away from the Hampton experience but adding to it in a very fun and creative way.

My daughters surprised me with a visit to Hampton Court palace on the 24th October for my birthday. The whole day was lovely and we felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. All the staff were kind and approachable. Staff members Wendy and Tom who we met in the main gift shop, were so sweet to give us some birthday vouchers to use at the onsite cafeteria for teas and cakes. Staff member Jolene also from the gift shop was very informative and shared with us how to become members which would save us money on future visits. She also told us about upcoming events at Hampton court. They were such a warm, helpful and friendly staff team in that shop. The shop itself stocked some really lovely souvenirs. We purchased a “medieval knights goblet” to commemorate the visit. I have a disability of osteoarthritis in my knees where walking on uneven ground or climbing stairs can exacerbate my knee pain. Again wendy guided me to lift locations and advised that I could also use the on site mobility scooters to ensure I could get to see the beautiful gardens without putting further strain on my knees. All of this interaction and use of the mobility scooter really helped to make it such an enjoyable visit.

I loved the tour. It was very interesting. Definitely get the audio guide if you are not doing a private tour. It contains lot of interesting information. I've seen people complain that it's empty. I'm not surprised that it is given it was a royal palace pre Oliver Cromwell and it was used as a grace and favor palace for royal relatives for a while. It's not likely many items would stand the test of time. I still thought it was an interesting tour. If you love history you will enjoy the tour.

An excellent experience for history buffs with a beautifully preserved palace and splendid grounds. Lots to see including some works of art by renowned painters, and it's important to attempt the famous maze

A history hit! Amazing historical Palace and for me a real treat as I am such a history nerd. Since childhood I have wanted to visit this Palace and I was pleasantly surprised.
