Kagura troupes from Hiroshima Prefecture will perform the traditional performing art of "Hiroshima Kagura" on a weekly basis.
Based on Japanese mythology and classical literature, performers in gorgeous costumes dance gracefully to the accompaniment of lively music. English subtitles are also available, allowing visitors from overseas to experience traditional culture in a more intimate setting.
We occasionally offer backstage tours after the performance, which require an additional fee.
These tours include explanations from the performers and an opportunity to interact with them.
You can try on costumes and masks, take commemorative photos, and even ask questions directly to the performers after they've finished dancing. If you'd like to learn more about Kagura, please book this plan.

From the second I entered I felt very welcome. The staff are super lovely and dedicated to everyone, audience and performers, enjoying themselves and having a good night. It is less than an hour of performance which suits my short attention span perfectly - It is a pretty nonstop show, especially for the musicians who are playing start to finish, and the performers are in very elaborate, heavily layered outfits. They all made it look effortless somehow, very impressive! I'm sure I would have melted and fallen off stage in the first 2 minutes. 10/10 I will definitly come to see another show here next time I'm in Hiroshima.

Very well organized, with locker on site, lots of staff speaking enough English, summary of the story to understand, subtitles in English. The possibility to take pictures at the end with actors and costumes is a good idea, but concretely no actor speaks English and the photos are taken on the line without pause or time to talk to them. The show itself is impressive, the sloping steps as in amphitheaters allow everyone to see. Do not miss, especially for an affordable price.

My husband and I attended the performance of “Yamata No Orochi” and absolutely loved it! The costumes are so intricate and fascinating, the performers are passionate, talented, and energetic, and the MC who additionally supplies English translation, Hitomi, is friendly and very professional in her translations. We felt very welcome! Highly recommended attending this activity if you’re in Hiroshima, it is authentically Japanese and gives a fantastic opportunity to learn more of the cultural practises in terms of plays/folklore. Thank you Hitomi-san!

It was a very fun and unique experience. The dancing of the actors was very impressive with tons of twirls and jumps in beautiful costumes!

Very traditional performance. The costumes are amazing and we got to try some of them on after the show. They are so heavy!
