Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura)
The Great Buddha of Kamakura (鎌倉大仏, Kamakura Daibutsu) is a bronze statue of Amida Buddha, which stands on the grounds of Kotokuin Temple. With a height of 11.4 meters, it has long been the second tallest bronze Buddha statue in Japan, surpassed only by the statue in Nara's Todaiji Temple and some recent creations.

5.00Our guide Kei did a masterful and efficient job of guideing us around the many wonderful teples and shrines of Kamakura. My favorite was the Zeniarei Benzaiten Temple where we literally washed (laundered) our cash in sacred spring water for future prosperity.

2.00The guide was helpful but his English was incomprehensible. In fact, I will be claiming a refund from Viator for failure to deliver what I was promised - an English speaking guide. Viator initially stated that this guide received many positive reviews for his English, but I don't believe that response. Neither my wife nor me understood 10% of what he said.
