The Zoo’s biggest experience, Land of the Lions, gives you the chance to get closer than ever before to the mighty Asiatic lions. You can explore walkways covering the 2,500sqm Indian-themed exhibit. Come face-to-face with one of nature’s most awesome predators in Tiger Territory, learn about the natural behaviours of Sumatran tigers and discover the conservation issues these creatures face in the wild. Tiny Giants is a celebration of all things small but mighty, and the sometimes strange but always wonderful world of invertebrates. Also home to a new coral reef tank, this indoor experience is one not to be missed. You’ll love heading down to the beach to watch our colony of Humboldt penguins dive, swim, frolic and feed in England's largest penguin pool, complete with large underwater viewing windows. And step Into Africa to observe the elegance and grace of the giraffes before moving on to the magnificent residents of Gorilla Kingdom.

Unfortunately the zoo is very tired and disappointing. Very few animals, run down attractions. Lots of empty enclosures. One enclosure seemed to boast about plant life? And lots of weeds - the grounds are poorly kept. Did a lot of walking between enclosures that actually had animals. We were at the zoo for over 3 hours. So you realise how sparse the zoo is all we saw was 3 very lethargic gorillas, a couple of zebras, 3 giraffes, some monkeys, some sloths - the guy in this enclosure was very informative, a couple of camels but their humps were droopy which generally means their fat source is low, 4 lions, 2 emus, a few wallabies, some otters and penguins and 2 tigers. Hardly any bIrds or reptiles. The facility is a bit of an embarrassment to London. We were looking forward to something better and better kept.

It was a great day. We had an adventurous day seeing all the animals. My favorite was the giraffe and I’m so glad to show my son a piece of Africa.

Spent the best part of around 4 hours taking in all the zoo has to offer (& there were no children in our group!). Some of the exhibits were undergoing renovation, so access wasn't possible, but there was still plenty to see. The site is huge, so be prepared to be walking around a lot, though there are plenty of benches/seating, etc. Lots of visible staff who were keen to answer any questions/help. There are plenty of restroom facilities which were clean and well maintained. A large restaurant provides a variety of choices for drinks, snacks, meals, etc.
